what would you do if one of your largest fan leaves was starting to burn all over?

Would you:
a)prune it off at the stem leaving a long red branch with no leaf on it sticking out
b)cut the leaf off at the main stem since the one huge fan leaf has its own little branch about 8" long and its one of the only red branches on the tree
c)do nothing and hope it doesnt spread to the rest of the plant
d)other?

thanks for your thoughts people!

theyre the very bottom leaves that droop below my dwc lid and dont get hardly any aeration, light, or heat compared to the rest of the healthy and vigorous new growth above it.

is it okay to cut it at the main stem? I dont want a weird looking red branch just hangin out there ya know.. I was thinking of just cutting it at 2 or 3 inches long just so its out of the way but Im not sure if this is okay or not..

First thing I'd do is flush the system if you think it might be nute burn.
If you think it's just because they're on the bottom I would suggest maybe putting it into a deeper container with more of the plant contained into the medium, especially if they dip below the DWC system. Also sounds like you need more lighting. I've never heard of a plant getting too much light, as long as the light is only available during the lighting period. However, you do need to make sure that your temps are controlled and lighting can definitely affect temperatures. I suggest just getting some CFL lighting down around the bottom areas of your plants so they can produce from the lower branches as well. They give good enough light to help your plants leaves and stems at lower levels but they don't run with high temps. Just make sure you don't get them within about 3 inches of the plant. I'd suggest about 100 W equivalent. Depending on what stage of grow you're in, you need to determine if you need a Red Spectrum or Blue Spectrum bulb. ALSO - if you're a strong believer in trimming, I'd just trim off the leaf that is burned or even the part of the leaf that is burned. Plants get energy from their leaves the way people get energy from solar panels. The more they have, the more energy they have, the more energy they have, the better they will thrive.

Just my opinion.

thanks lopezri but I definately have the light topic covered. Its only about 2 feet tall right now and I have a 400W HPS (enhanced blue spectrum) in a ventilated cooltube 6"-8" above the top of the plant in a 4'x2' space with excellent ventilation. I was speaking relatively to the top of the plant. HPS has excellent penetration and even the bottom is getting adequate light. Im hoping maybe some quality organic nutes will prevent this next time. I think I'm gonna steer clear from the salts from now on...

I dont cut any leaves off ( unless the plant has a spreding prob) lopezri explained y
if a leaf looks sick let it be keep an eye on in , the plant will get rid of it when its reddy
a sick , burnt, leaf still makes food for the hole plant, if its not the plant will drop it

pluck it off through it away and go smoke one. no biggie. its just one its not that bad. just watch for others to start burning, then you have problems
