What would you do with $500,000?

Payoff or buy a house...and buy a couple cars...then find a way to make the rest of the money earn money....and hide some , like $50,000 cash , and never touch it.
 
The best rule is to not dramatically change your life. Yes buy a house but not one that's half your money, buy a car but a reasonable one then invest the money and collect interest and keep increasing your interest returns every year while living off of your grow. Plan for the future so you can be financially flexible cause when your out of money there is no going back. That kind of money can really set you up on a strong finical pathway for life.

since that post no longer has a place here, i'd buy 2 triple decker houses and rent those bitches out. the dumpy ones are going for about 200k and 30k could easily make them move-in ready. without a mortgage it's all profit. if each unit brought 1k a month i could have the 500k back in my pocket within 7 years. some of the buildings have 4 units instead of 3. it's nice to dream.
 
I would definately give some of it to a person on these boards that could use some help (me) it will make you feel better about it.

If you really feel like oyu need to do something with it anumal shelters always need donations to save unadopted pets.
sit back and live off the money dont do anything dramatic is what i would say. (except give some to me)
 
dont piss it away! my little bro got close to the amount you will be and in a year i think he has like not alot left. be smart and get you a house. if you dont wanna have to worry about bills get you a nice ass duplex house and live on one side and rent the other out and that will be your bill money. get you whatever badass car you want then take a certain pre-determined number out just for you to blow and then forget the rest of that money exists cause if you do and you wait like 5-10 years to touch it that money will have grown soo much you will be set for a looooooooooooooooong time
