What Would You Do?

scenario:

new job. your given trade. you start doing a new task but along the same lines of what you are familiar with. you show the boss what you got BEFORE you are hired. the last person who worked there, we will call him joe, was an "ace". could do it perfectly. he's gone though. you handle it. they buy their new machine. one you are familiar with. they don't have it set-up right. they won't listen and blame you. you bite down and take it. they figure it out and SOMEWHAT fix it. they realize it wasn't you yet don't apologize. you come in monday morning. the boss has screwed up. a customer was at the door at opening and his product was not finished. the boss says hurry up and finish this one real quick. you start to. he says wait, no, this one. ok. you start on that one. no, wait, we haven't even started it yet. it takes a good 2 hours to build. the customer will be back in an hour. i say "no way". an hour? boss says sure "JOE COULD DO IT". what? " i said "JOE COULD DO IT". okay, that's kinda rude. i tell him that politely. he says he was kidding, but, "JOE COULD DO IT".


at this point, what would you do?

tell him to screw him self and get a life

Political option:

Ask your supervisor to sit down with you and discuss everything thats gonig on. Ask him to ONLY listen until you are done giving him your side of the situation. After the conversation, I would either send him an email recapping everything, or write a quick letter doing the same and ask him to sign it.

I've learned that its best to cover your ass on every occasion when dealing with people above your head, and below you for that matter...

If things dont get better, then you have the ball in your hands. You can either take further action and go over his head with your signed letter (he cant dispute something he's signed or received via email), or you can book it and look for another job.

"Other" option:

Get stoned at work... When he finds you smoking, look at him and say "I just wanted to be like Joe..." And then break down crying... He cant fire you if you're crying!!!

Spit in his face and call him a pikey.

im not sure exactly what kinda work you do but I bet if you could get to the customers before the "boss" gets them you will make ass crack loads of money

You know FDD I used to have to deal with this kind of shit when I was an installer (car audio). I went to work for a shop in West Palm that was basically a "Git-R-Dun" type place. They tried that shit on me the first few days I was there and I told them straight up...I don't give a fuck who worked here before or what they could do...you got me now and this is how I work...I might be a little slower than the last Joe, but I do the shit right, and if you don't like it let me know now so I can hit the road...otherwise shut the fuck up, and it's done when I get it done.

5 years ago I walked out on my prick-of-a-boss and opened up a competing business. I suffered through law suits, one after another. I won them all, of course, but lawyer fees ate me up. It took 2 years but I put that bastard out of business! The next thing I did was leased a billboard space 2 blocks from his house, facing his front door. He had to see my smiling face every day for 6 months
