What's going on that makes the pistils curl and yellow?

I'm nearing harvest with my ladies and I'm learning that straight, white pistils are one sign of a still immature plant (not the best method of determining harvest time, I know). I'm curious about what's going on in the flower that causes them to darken and curl up. Anyone know?

It`s part due to the genetics of the plant and part due to bacteria and such living inside the plant

It seems like blue light triggers the change normally plants that get more far band blue and uv`s yellow faster, if you use even a small uvc lamp you can turn a plant orange in 10mins, but don`t look at a uvc lamp it`ll burn your eyes, lol
