I have 2 clones that i took and both have rooted well now in coco/perlite mix but i need to keep them small and alive until i have space to flower 1, then i will keep the best and kill the other.
Whats the best way to keep them small, is it to give them little light and 1/4 strength nutes so they just grow slowly or would that cause problems later when i went into full veg regime?

I will be training it but i just want to keep them alive for now until i choose which one to keep, i can't get it into flower for at least 9 - 10 weeks so i need to keep them small for now.

If you give them "little" light, they are going to stretch like hell and you will end up with a 5' tall twig. LSTing, training won't necessarily make them small. It will help but they will stretch however much they will stretch. I would suggest using small pots. Small pots will cause your plant to get rootbound and your plant will stay smaller. There are things you will need to do to keep them healthy though. When you water them, they will suck all the water from the small pot into the stems and leaves, and you will need to rewater later that day. Otherwise they need watering every day and that becomes stressful to them.

Yeah i'm gonna try to avoid the stretching, i have a t5 hood that i built that will take 3 x 55w bulbs but i've taken 2 out so i only have 1 x 55w over the 2 plants at the min.
I like the idea of keeping to small pots though, and watering twice a day is fine for me or i could hook up a dripper if i have to.

remember tho small pot means small plants and small yeild .....so if ur lookn to some one weeks worth of weed leave it in that pot but if ur lookn to get a months worth a weed ex a couple ounces transplant into bigger pots and get more space ..

i use a dresser in my room. you cant even tell what it is actually doing. i keep two plants in there and they would easily be able to get to 3 ft tall by 3ft wide. this way i can keep atleast 2 medium plants in my only option for growing room. i just lst them often. they have double their size in two days because of transplant to larger pot, so if you are trying to keep them very small i suggest keeping in a small pot.

Train em for now. If they start getting out of hand then take any clonable chutes and root them. If your moms get too big before you have a chance to flower then you can simply ditch(unadvised) the moms and your clones should easily be a few weeks old and well rooted judging by the time frame you are working with. If your flowering gets pushed even further back just rinse and repeat:) give any extra clones to your friends.

@Dgringo69,
I love it and subscribe to the idea myself.
I stay low tech I have not got into LST, Supercropping or SCROG.
I just tie the branches down, I top Early, the top a second time then start the S&M, lol
tying down the girls branches spreading her out with string pulling at her to keep her down.
plant will end up with 4 central tops, I want to try SCROG next.
peace,
DZ

I like your idea, i took the clones now because i wanted the symmetrical nodes as i want to try mainlining as i read this is the best way for that.
I can't give away any clones as NO ONE knows that i have started growing and i want to keep it that way so any extras will be killed.

I dont have the room and i don't want more than 2 plants as i'm in uk so 2 would be a caution if i got raided.

Keep it rootbound in a small pot. Top and remove top node when plant height reaches pot size, 10" plant in 10" pot, etc. BigSteve.
