Need more information about your set up for any real advice to be given.
they are in mushroom compost. Which I’ve had success with before. This bag was a little different, had more mulch. I’ve given one feeding so far of roots organic bottle nutrients. Always ph to 6.0-6.5. Rh is around 60%-65% most of the time. 18-6 light schedule. Light is roughly 24 inches away

If you can handle the heat HPS.

if you can’t and can handle the price a good LED.

if you can’t and you can get a mid grade LED. You get the point. Get a good light it makes everything else a little easier

In a 4x4 area you can grow oa few plants if you keep them quite well pruned or lst however I'm guessing you want to grow only one plant is that right? There's some nice leds out there. They are getting cheaper but still expect to pay at least $200. My Blackstars cost $600 back when I bought em.
But they're quiet and they're cool running. So that's my two cents. Everybody has their own way...which they always think is the best way, lol. That's just how it is.
Soil is life. You should read a book titled Teaming with Microbes. If you make a good mix all you need do is water. For the three months it takes from veg to harvest. If you want to read about SUPERSOIL there's a lot of info here on RIU.
Other that that I always watered with tap water. I had decent reservoir water. Well water is good. I never liked RO or distilled. That's just me.

More looking at 4 plants at a time. I’m just now getting into microbes and super souls. I order earth dust and waiting for it to come in to cook my soil

cool beans...i dont know what earth dust is. I'm assuming its mycorrhizae (spelling) or something like that? I used that too with great results.
