I have several timers and they seem to quit all the time, can anyone recommend a good timer for use, these cheepies are not making it...
Whats with timers? mine seem to quit working all the time, anyone else?

I got a "G.E. Power Saving Strip Timer" for 20 bucks @ homedepot...works fine so far...and it's got a battery back up..

Get a green house timer. Or if your electrically inclined. Wire in a hot water timer.

The internal switch on the timers, digital or analog (but especially analog), are what take the dump. Plug the timer into a surge suppressor, then the light into the timer.

Thanx bud, it was actually because it had 4 programable outlets, and 4 "all time power" outlets for fans and heater, made my choice for me, and it was cheap...lol

Yep, the only thing I have to worry about is water and raising lights when needed..lol..I'm a CFLer by the way..& here's my very first grow, after doing some research and getting some input, it's not "complete" yet, but working good so far...

I bought an "Intelitech" digital power strip from Lowe's today, now I see it needs an "AG13" Mercury battery for the back up feature. I can't seem to get the cap off the battery compartment after turning it all the way to the "open" position, has anyone put a battery in that model? Thanks.

lmao...that is my first plant, I have 3 more good ones, 6 all together, but 2 are runted...and yep, got some Bontone rooting powder already, and a doz. qrt. mason jars (hope I need them all..lol.) here's all of them starting at 5 days and my oldest was 14 days (at time these pics were taken)

One last thing, read the name plate on the timer...
all of these timers, have a "MAX" load, just make sure you do not exceed...
Add your load [name plate of all your plugged in -lights/fans/etc]
add another 20% now never exceed that on your strip or timer...

I had a plug strip that took a dump, because I had 12.5 amps plugged in [it was rated at 15 amps]
And at start up my balasts pulls more power on start up...
Try to always stay 20% under your max rating...

What he said. The contact points inside the timers burn up. Plus they are exposed to lots of humidity and chemicals.
Who needs a light timing failure during a grow? F-that!

For emergency, any hardware store will do. Just make sure they are heavy duty if driving HID lighting.
