When do I trim buds?

trim the buds as soon as you chop the plant. because the longer you wait the harder it is. the leaves will stick to the bud and it will take for ever after it starts to dry

Im 100% sure you chopped too early, but to answer your question, trim the sugar fan leaves 1/2 way or 3/4 wy.. Be careful not to cut up buds

i dont trim until dry because i live in a dry state but in a humid area its better to trim first so it dries faster and doesnt mold

Well, its up to you, i usually trim down to where the trichs start to be concentrated, if no trichs it comes off

Pull or cut the bigger fan leaves off first. Then you will see what is called 'sugar leaves' which stick out about half way the length of the fan leaves. The stuff that looks like sugar is infact the only part of the plant that will get you high. cut them to where you like, usually in half, or leave them on if they are coated with sugar (trichomes).

Maybe not, might just not be running enough lumens.

Thanks all for your input, I got her all trimmed, she looks awesome, smells great! Now off to the closet to dry, then my curing will begin. It was a blast!!!
Got more smoke than I know what to do with, can't wait to see the finished product!!! It will last me months!!!

yeah looking at your pics, im almost certain you chopped a bit too early, had you let them go to maturity you would have much fatter denser nugs. Personally i trim my buds fully once I chop, i take off all fan leaves and big leaves and if their are any small sugar leaves that are heavily coated in trich's ill leave them on, all others get chopped and used for hash

btw, you can expect to have about 1/5th of the weight dried that you have now. So if you have 50 grams now, you will have 10 finished.

How can you make statements like that without actually viewing the trichs?

2 paper bags.
1 for junk trim, and 1 for bud leaf trim
you can trim close to the bud, or far away. depends on how much time you want to spend making your buds look pretty.
I save my junk trim and make hash oil out of it. after I've harvested a few plants.
The bud leaf trim has alot of trichromes. I made a rotary hash screen. I run the bud trim through that, after that I make hash oil out of the screened bud trim.
