when drying the buds do i manicure the buds then hang em?

hey guys and gals. im having a tough time with the drying aspect of this. i cut down a couple, few plants yesterday and hung em on a line in a dark cool closet.
my question is do i hang em for a couple days before i manicure the buds or do i manicure them first then hang the branches on the line?

any advise is big time helpful. im horrified im gonna ruin it at the finish line.

so i been going down grabbing a branch off the line, manicuring it then hangin it back on the line.....im worried though if they sit on the line, how long should they stay there. id imagine 5 days and it would be bone dry right? but i dont want em bone dry do i i want em to dry in the glass jars right?

hang them to dry after you manicure... leave them to hang until they still feel slightly moist then mason jar them for curing opening the jar for a few hours then closing it for the rest of the day. repeat the step about the mason jars until you figure out you desired dryness of buds

Depends on the thickness of the buds. 5 to 7 days to dry. then in a air tight jar.

i cleaned out some large spaghetti sauce jars. can i use those? and do i just srew the top back on?

A canning jar will work the best.

With the spag jar ya may have to put a plastic bag over the top to make it air tight.

Miracle whip jars work pretty good. Most jars around the house you find that they are a 1 twist to tighten them. Look for 1 that screws on a few times. Good luck!
Hardware store and others have canning jars.

Yea, you want to put your herb in the jars once they outer parts of the plant or bud feels dry, then do the snap test. If like your buds more dry and crispy because you smoke more blunts and joints, then you hang until the main stem makes an audible snap when you bend it. If your like me and you like to hit bowls of some nice sticky gooie shit than you hang them upside down until the outer leaves or buds feel dry to the touch and aren't all rubbery the main stem should bend over instead of snapping. Then you put them into the jars. The next key is to move the buds around in the jars to let all sides of buds get air (avoids mold), besides burping (opening the lids for a couple of hours), you want to keep your jars in a cool dry place and keep an eye on them. I check mine several times a day because I am paranoid. If you get mold on your harvest, and you don't catch it on time, it could ruin what ever is in each jar. Take your time and you will have some delicious great smelling herb. Oh and try not to dry them too fast because you could lock that chlorophyl freshly cut grass smell and taste. I hope I didnt give you too much info. Good luck. Remember, Take your time, do it right, and you will be happier. Oh, and invest in a 30X jewlers scope and the 420 scope which is 60-100X. It will let you know the exact time to harvest and for both you are looking at about 25 bucks. It looks like you may have cut them a little early.

thanks bro. i cut em on day 68. i was worried because the place i got em said they were a 55 day finisher, i got worried theyd be losing potentcy....did i ruin em by yanking em early?

Hell no bro, I check out my grow and you'll see this one girl of mine that went hermi on me in week 5 and I pulled her in the begining of week 6. The funny thing is that the buds did not get as dense as they would have if she had just kept all her energy on making female buds instead of switching over to making male pollen. Once I cut her down and she was all dried, my friends and family were saying, wow that one hermi shit really fucks me up! I only have a little bit left because everyone that comes over asks for the Hermi by name lol. Funny shit but yea like I said, just because you cut her early doesn't mean you ruined her, just means that she wont be as potent as if you would have left her longer. Live and learn man thats how you get better. Get those scopes, and you will be way better off next time around. Oh and the rep would greatly be appreciated. I'll be checkin back.

What I like to do is give them a trim, I take the fan leaves off and then I put them into 24-36 hours of darkness. Then I cut them down and hang them up. Dont forget to flush well at least two weeks before you cut her down. If you have Clearex or Final Flush or some shit like that, you could flush 3 days before you cut and still be fine. I like to stop using nutes at least two weeks before I cut them, then I give them two or three flushes since my plants want about one watering a week, yours might be a little different.

i have a question or 2. ive never cured buds b4 and i have some plastic jars that are airtight and im using them now is plastic ok? and after a couple of days now my buds feel way more damp or wet now then they were when i first put them in,is this normal?and how much space should be left in the jar? should i fill all up or just half? thanks for any help mate

i would advise against trimming before drying,

what i do is to pluck all the big fan leaves away from the stems, i don't use scissors,

then when all the big leaves are gone i hang them up to dry be each branch, when its gotten a little dryer thats when i do the manicure,

my reason for doing this is chlorophyll bleed which can give your weed a taste

all you do is just give it water and no nutes at all for 1-2 weeks before you are gunna pull her,i think this makes it taste better and makes it less harsh to smoke

i started with seeds. i have of yet to get a clone to root but ive only tried once now im on my second try.
my luck went like this...first grow 5 out of 6 were girls..then 2nd time i planted seeds..i got 5 out of 6 males , then i got some mss seeds from a friend and those brought me 8 girls out of 15 seeds...then i bough all fmenized seeds. that was the violator kush, g13 haze, skunk haze, white ice, and i still have more super skunk seeds now because one bud must have had a bannana in it, and i got 9 seeds from the one bud. no seeds anywhere else though so i got lucky...out of the 45 i planted 2 were male and i killed em. so with the femenized seeds i got 43 girls and 2 boys.....man i figured id get nore than 2 so im killin the weakest so the better ones can thrive...
i grew these under the 600 watt hps . and someone said they look stretched, wwhat do you guys think. i had the light 14 inches or so above the plants..some plants just grew so god damd fast and i could swear that since i started the flowering 12 dark. that the plants have gotten taller a lot taller , that is what i assumed would cause some stretching ..

not saying you're wrong becasue there are a million ways to skin the cannabis cat...

But i have not ever had any chlorophyll bleed because i trimmed my buds before drying them.

Of course I flush my plants well....
PROPERLY FLUSHING YOUR PLANTS (so the leaves get nice and yellow and devoid of green & chlorophyl) gets rid of all the unsynthesized nutrients and causes the plant to use up its stores of energies.... so that when your properly dry your buds (5-7 days temp 70-75f, rh 40-50) are ready to smoke they will be tasty and smooth.

also, not feeding your plants for a few days before the chop ensures that no "fresh food" remains in the plant systems that could adversely affect the flavor.

like i said though, there are a million ways to skin the cannabis cat... trim before you dry/dont trim before you dry/trim a little before you dry.... find the way that works for you and stick with it

i don't think they look stretched. they look like different pheno types & strains that are in early flower to me.. maybe day 24 at max???

theyn will stretch for the first 3-4 weeks of 12/12... some will double, some triple in height... just the way the plant grow.

i don;t see "strecthed".... who said that?
