when working with seeds, is it considered vegging as soon as it sprouts? or after a certain amount of nodes and whatnot?

As soon as it sprouts until you switch to 12/12, unless it's an auto-flower then it'll flower when it's ready.:leaf:

the first 2-3 weeks i consider the Seedling stage (PHd water and vitamins) after that i began the Veg stage as normal. but there is surely a stage before veg, because a veg feeding regiment will kill most seedlings.

vegging nutes will kill most seedlings if you feed them in the first 2-3 weeks because they don't need anything yet unless your growing in hydro or soilless mediums. Also you are supposed to start off with small amounts of nutes and work your way up or you will probably kill your babies giving them a full dose of nutes at 3 weeks old lol.

I consider it vegging after it's got it's second set of true leafs.

bravo for not reading my post. vitamins and nutrients are not the same thing, and i clearly stated that a veg regiment would kill seedlings, so why you trying to pick on my post pal?

This is one of the most frustrating things to newbies. The first couple of weeks in dirt are the seedling stage.
You will notice very little vertical growth during this period as the plant is busy building a root system.
After a couple weeks the plant will start growing vertically and that is the start of the vegging stage.
I usually figure 4 to 5 weeks in dirt at 20/4 lights covers the seedling and vegatative stages. I also go by height.
So I figure somewhere around 32 inches is about the right size going into flowering mode. Pot size is important
too. Using smaller pots, less than 2-3 gallons, will often have plants ready to flower a week or so earlier if you are in a hurry.

Good luck, BigSteve.
