when should i 12/12?

got 3 plants under a 150hps...how tall should they get before i go 12/12 on them?
they are under 24/7 now...

From what i read, 12in is really good, BUT.. if time is not on your side, just go 12/12 and crop out early.

I am gonna grow 12/12 from seed, and i have seen some good results.

im kinda in a tough circumstance here bc im going to be leaving in may for the summer(3 months) and i was wondering if i should just vegetate through the whole time that im gone or should i start the 12/12 cycle now?

any suggestions would greatly help!

how big did the plants get though? did you use veg lights or straight up flowering lights?

one plant is around 7 in now and the other 2 are about 4in tall. i started off using 4 cfls (2 tubes). now they are under 2 cfls and a 150hps...

they are about 1 1/2 months old

If times tight you can start vegging now. 6 weeks is alittle low, but should be good enough. Just keep in mind that you need to flower for about two months, and this is not something you want to short. So that would put your harvest date at around mid june. Vegging longer is never a bad thing, but I'm alittle confused....If you're going to be gone for 3 months, how would you be able to keep vegging them? Are you going to have a friend take over?

ya that would be the plan...so if i start flowering when i leave in end of may and i come back the end of august, would tht be too long to flower for? thats around 3 months...

I know, on average, most plants will want to flower for 2 months. To tell you the truth though, I have no idea what would happen if you flower for longer than you should. There's got to be someone on here who does. What I would do though, let it veg for another 3 months. You will come back to a monster. Flower that beast and you will be in for one hell of a yeild.

is it really possible to stay in the vegatative state for that long?? that would be around 5-6 months in the vegatative phase!

dude it's basically impossible to grow pot plants without paying attention to them for 3 months. Do you have someone to take care of them. You need to water them, switch to nutes eventually, you need to regulate the temperature and airflow, as well as the humidity and moving the lamp height... it's impossible.

I'll give you some info tho - you can veg forever, literally forever dude. As far as flowering, it'll take between 8 and 12 weeks and when the plant becomes ready to harvest (this is way watered down for simplicity) the THC effect/ potency will start at a very subtle level, then to a euphoric mind-high, then a body high, then the THC will start to degrade, after that your plant will die and then rot....... so timing is really important after the average flowering time has ended.

ya i have someone who is gunna watch them while im gone (waterng and all that) how big can i expect them to be when i get back? or how much yield would you expect i should get assuming 2 outta the 4 are females?

If you veg your plants until they are 12" tall and flower them on 12/12 for the average 8-12 weeks you can expect about an ounce per plant. That's just a really rough and very general estimate. Everything depends on grow time, conditions, strain, and how the plant is treated and loved. I swear man... all plants like to be talked to. My buddy nute burned the shit out of his 14 plants, eight died, the remaining six plants were wicked fucked up. But then he started talking to them and hung up pics of pot and like encouraging quotes in their wall. All of them turned out healthy, huge, and female Plant playlist anyone??

so how big would you expect they be by the time i get back at the end of august under good growing conditions? plants are between 3 and 7 inches right now.
This is considering im in the 24/7 or even 20/4 cycle all summer.

you also have to consider the 175 wt is only going to have so much penetrative power. you can't grow 4 or 5 feet high beasts using that light. and since you are leaving them to an others care, i think it is safe to say you will get zero yield. Not to be a bummer but you kind of have to be dedicated to get something smokable and unless your friend is as knowledgeable (or more so) than you - just watering and "keeping an eye on them" most likely won't cut it.

again - sorry to be a buzzkill - just trying to set some realistic expectations.

the person that is going to be watching them has experience in growing so i dont have any worry there but i have more than 175 watt. i got a 150hps, 2 30 watt cfls and a 100 watt cfl.
still have no answer till how tall they should be by the end of august.
anyone have a guess?

- how tall is your grow area?
- if your gone do you have some one that is very trust worthy to look after them?
- if you know some one that will take care of them but woried about flowering then veg.
- if you don't or don't trust some one enough then flower now

oh word, i assumed u were using a 400W MH cuz... i'm high, don't worry about it. So....... let's be a little more realistic.. I'll say 1/5-1/4oz per plant if everything goes right and luck is on your side. If your friend really knows what he's doing let's go with max 1/2-5/8oz.

Since a grow can be performed within 3 months you're basically missing the whole thing and might want to grow when you'll actually be there. Your friend's gonna want most of it haha.

and my grow area is a 4x4 box that can go to a 8 ft ceiling...its in the bathroom.
really think less than an ounce a plant?? hmmm, i was hoping more!

why do you have that in the bathroom, that extra moisture can't be good for it, especially when you start to bud.

If a buddy is going to watch that shit, just veg for another month or so and bud for 2 months, or until roughly 2/3rds of your pistils have changed to reddish.
