When to move seedlings from under T5 to 1000W MH?

I have 6 seedlings in a DIY 5 gallon bucket RDWC currently a few inches under a T5 light. Seedlings sprouted through the rockwool 1 week to 12 days ago.

At what point would it be better for their growth to move them under a 1000W MH (can be set to 600/750/1000W)? I have read some saying keep them close to the T5 bulbs to prevent stretching for awhile, but also read that MH is far superior for growth than T5. When will they be ready to go under the MH?

Pics of the seedlings can be seen here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/617223-1st-time-journal-6-plants-3.html

I would wait untill they get at least 3-4 good nodes of leaves. They may be a bit tender yet for even 600w.

If you do decide to go for it, make sure you put at least 22"-25" between the light and the plant at 600w and even a bit more if you go higher on wattage.

Just like nutes, start off soft and wait till they show you what they want, if they show signs of "stretching a little, lower the light a little. Once they get about 10" to a foot tall and several nodes, time to get serious about nutes and light levels.

Veg the hell out of them with that T5 CLOSE. The poster who mentioned letting it get past 4 nodes is on to it. Then put it on 18/6 under HPS for a few weeks before flipping to 12/12 to enhance bud site development.

yea no need to blast em with 600W now, just a wast of power, small seedlings and even plants in Veg don't need that much light, do as the others say, wait until you have some grow going and a few sets of real leafs to absorb all the light from the MH, just keep them T5s close 2-4 inch`s

Wow that looks like a much longer wait to move from T5 to 1000W MH than I had planned, at the rate mine are going I'd guess mine have another 3 weeks+ at least under the T5. I think I read somewhere here 2 weeks for T5 lights, how old are they in your picture Slipon?

Maybe I should have clarified that I was looking to veg under the Metal Halide when ready, then swap out with the HPS bulb when I am ready for 12/12.

I got you, and I believe them plants was about 6 weeks old, I mostly use the T5HO for that long Bc. I don't own a MH, just a HPS so I veg. em until Im about ready to flower, repot em a week before and when I trow em in under the HPS I continue to Veg em for a week or two wile I turn down the timer a 1/2 or a hour a day, until I reach 12/12, Im in no hurry, only for personal use ..

p.s.

and the T5HO also safe some power (293 watt instead of 600W) and as I said, plants in Veg. don't need as much light as flowering plants, more or less a third, so unless your in a hurry there is no reason (IMO) to trow em in under the MH before they are atleast 2-3 weeks old
