When To Plant Canada, Ontario?

Hey guys, its my second year growing and last year i think i may have started a little late in the season, i had a friend plant my crop in the ground around the end of May to the beginning of June. So my question is, when should i start my plants this year? I was thinking around late April but I'm not quite sure just thought i would ask.

Also i have just ordered some "The Dope" seeds from www.drgreenthumb.com, i figured since he only lived in Ottawa, not to far from where i am, they wouldn't have to go through customs and i wouldn't lose them, but im an amateur,, so what do i know?

Anyways just wondering if anyone has ever grown this strain before, it looked pretty decent since it grows around 350 to 1300 grams per plant, and feminized, who could so no? Anyways hit me back guys.:leaf::razz::bigjoint::eek:

june first is ideal there is no more cold days if you can get them in a green house early may it gives em a head start it keeps em warm at night so they dont go into shock start em mid april hell ealy april if you have the space for em to be bigger just rember to always harden them off the more vedge time and the bigger the hole(with peoper soil and nute (ofcorse water and light exposer the bigg the yeild idealy 1 lb pluse per plant

june 1st is late, as a Ontario outdoor grower I will share what I do.

May 10th is ideal where I live. check the last frost day for your area. plant a week after that and thats the ideal time.

I have had success planting in March though, around 15-20th. When temps dont drop below 5-10celcius. I usually start a couple early in march, and plant the majority around 4:20 (April 20th), then I put out the last ones May 10th.

This gives you a harvest gap aswell, so your not harvesting, drying, curing everything at once.

the earlier you put them out, the larger they will grow, larger the yield.

hope that helps.

Also a little suggestion. Try out Timewarp. PERFECT for ontario growers. High quality buds. designed for our climate.

When growing in Ontario you want to look for Indica's or Indica Dominants, You will never be able to achieve a Sativa to full potential with our growing season, its pretty short around 130days I believe. give or take a month around the province.

alright thanks for the advice guys, yea i got this strain which says its ready for harvest around october, excellent frost resistance in the spring, and good frost resistance for the fall frost. it also says it grows around 350 to 1200 grams per plant, it is also an indica dominant. last year i did have sativas and learned fairly fast that they weren't the type of plant you want up in north canada, i ended up harvesting about a month early but did manage to pull a good pound of the beut.

heres the strain and the website if you want to check it out: http://drgreenthumb.com/cannabis_seeds_GreenthumbSeedsEntrance.htm
the strain is called " the dope. "

I lived in On and i always put my clones out on the May holidayweekend. I would always start a mother from seed around mid Feb take clippings (20-30) end of april, cup them once rooted, veg for a week under some flor, then plant em. always had better luck that way than straight from seed.

what part of ontario are you in ?? You can plant way sooner in the hamilton area compared to say sudbury or the sue...find out your latitude...its the easiest way. Ive grown the docs strain for years..its good stuff. I would have went the iranian chemo myself because it finishes early. The dope will go to mid to late october..Are u growing on your own land or is it a gurrila grow ? The reason i ask is after mid september the bush is full of hunters
Peace LM

good advice, I've heard good & bad reviews on "The Dope" drom actual growers more negative than positive sorry to say. Ontario has a huge range of micro climates depending on location. probably the best spots in Canada are in South Ontario close to the lakes.

i did use to live in the london area, but have just recently moved up by north bay. so ive been reading up on when to plant and all,
i have grown sativas in london and i could just barley make it through the season, but last year i was a little unfortunate and found out the hard way
that growing sativas up here is a big no no.

i was going to buy the iranian chemo but when i logged on a few days later to print the mail form i had noticed he was out of stock, so i had changed my ways
and thought that the dope would be another good choice since it is an indica dominant and finishes sometime around october. last year i found that it starts to frost early november up here.

thanks for the advice and info guys.

that's still pretty late compared to the prairies. The problem is the sun is so low in the horizon by the end of September that far North that it has little effect on a plant.
There's plenty of Sativas that finish early BTW C 99 might be worth a shot as it has a very short flowering period. I heard it willf finish in Manitoba. Joey Weeds C99 are only $ 57 @ Hemp Depot (in Ontario BTW)

awww yeah this was a thread i was hoping to find. ONTARIO GROWERS! haha this is my second outdoor , well actually i wouldnt even say the first one counted but whatever. hahaha guess what? I found out that i always start late , im going to plant mines this week :D ..... I know its less veg time and less bud in the end :( butt I'm still going to get some high quality buds! i got some TGA subcool "vortex" and "querkle" , Green House "trainwreck", "white widow","big bang" and thats about it , but i wanted to get some sativa variety more than indica ....Still got both (of course not fully sativa).... VORTEX by subcool is a GOOOD plant ...80 % sativa 20% indica... And i heard many reviews by it. And this is wierd once i say it ....but most of tga subcool seeds have more chance of being female than others ! (they only sell regular seeds)....I know this from reading many reviews . This one guy grew 20 of his beans and got 2 males :S hahaha .............. WELL Later brothers keep tokin bongsmilie
