hey tek i agree with dam, autos can be different, some like 24/0 some like 20/4 some wont flower until 18/6 it really all depends, i personally start counting flower from the day i start seeing female parts growing, NOT from when i switch the light from 12 and 12, its usually about a 10-14 day difference, which makes a big diff at the end, good luck friend

i agree completely some need a "push" often called semi auto's my favorite strain and pheno is a dinafem white widow auto that needs a push 18/6 to get to really flowering i run 24/0 so the one's that can have more veg time do and then when others have finished i start the timer you dont yield less under 24/0 and cfl's dont run squat on the power meter photo's are the one's that need dark a true auto has no need for it but like i said originally the plant is the one that calls the shots in the end

if you dont know what to look for then you wont know also alot of the fast finish "short strains" that call for strictly bloom nutes or a 18/6 lighting will be far from short under 24/0 and veg nutes

not to nit pick but why do you switch the lights to 12/12 on a auto?

a true auto will and can auto under 24/0
some unstable genetics will need a push if it preflowers and keeps on vegging ive had white widow auto dinafem need a 18/6 push because a 20/4 wouldnt do it i grow under 24/0 and the ones that dont flower under that veg until the one's that do are finished and i cut the timer on no sense in depriving a auto that has no problem with 24/0 the light it deserves plus side the one's that need a push will veg longer and yield more

think i covered that some of them need a push also

Thanks Ak night, the more closely I have been watching them this week I am starting to agree with you. I think im going to start counting my flowering days from week 4 instead of week 2. And Yes those last 2 weeks are always the most stressful for me at least.
