when would you say your plant is on day 1 of flowering?

do you say it started flowering when it shows sex? or do you say it started flowering the day you flip them?

Im trying to keep track of my plants on a calendar and my plants showed on the 14th, so im not sure which one to say was day 1 of flowering thanks

bump, I'd also like to know when is the official day of flowering? The day you change the light cycle or the first sign of flowers. I wanna know when to change up the nutes ratio.

Uhm well I know nutes for me have always changed when the lights change but im also not sure if it would be day 1 at the light change or when it finally shows.

Some will say it starts at the switch to 12/12, but if you are trying to time your flowering stage you should start at the first sign of flower.

A mature plant will start flowering in days, an immature plant might take weeks to start flowering.

If you start you 60 days or whatever your strain takes to flower from the day you switch, and then it takes two weeks to start flowering it won't mature in the expected time.

the day you switch lights over. its not like the plant doesn't notice. it just takes about a week to see any results. doesn't mean that nothings happening inside the plant. its metabolism is changing. just because u cant see anything doesn't mean nothing happening! its not like one day it just decides to show flowers. its actually working towards showing flowers the day its photoperiod has changed.

my answer is: the plant begins flowering as soon as u switch the photoperiod.

Then if it takes two weeks to begin flowering and is supposed to be a 45 day flowering plant you only let the buds grow for 31 days?

WRONG!!!!!

once your plant shows sex, that is day 1 of flowering. the first day of 12/12 is the first day of 12/12, not flowering obviously, because your plants aren't flowering yet.

if you have two plants same strain, and one sexes in one week, the other in two. the one that took two weeks to sex hasn't been flowering for two weeks, it just started, and is a week behind in flowering compared to the other.

i count flowering from when 12/12 is induced... but i dont expect strains to finish in x amount of days... they go till they're done; but i like to keep track of how long that took, starting from the light change

I also consider day 1 of 12/12 to be day 1 of flower. I count it more in weeks but that still where the line is drawn. Partly that's because how nute companies layout their feeding schedules. X weeks of veg feeding that changes each week and then Y weeks of flower feeding which changes each week. So if I start 12/12 on Sat, the next Sat begins week 2 of flower.

I would say its not when you see the first signs of sex because you can get preflowers in veg cycle. If you have preflowers and switch to12/12 this is first day of flowering. If you dont have preflowers and you switch to 12/12 this is not the start of flowering....and the start of flowering this way would begin when you see 1st signs of sex

if you are insinuating that you would harvest a plant at 45 days simply because its supposed to be a 45 day plant, then you are quite ignorant. it doesn't really matter what the suggested harvest date is, because it is just that.... a suggestion based off of an average.

Now I'll explain something to you. REAL growers harvest when they choose to. they make a decision based off of a number of factors, ranging from what kind of high they hope to achieve al the way down to the spacific climate or environment they are growing in. Mediums also play a factor, as hydro plants tend to grow faster than soil and so forth.

Basically the answer to your childish question is no. No i would not let the plant go for 31 days and cut it. I am not ignorant i harvest my plants when they are ready.

uhh wait until you see pistils until the sex sign develops there is no flowers it is a vegetative plant in 12/12.

I have a 1 foot 1 inch plant in 12/12 for 3 weeks now. It is my first plant in my current first ever grow, and has gone through the out most of stresses throughout her poor life. Fortunately today, when i looked at it, i found out it was a her and my heart filled with joy as i saw little white pistils forming on the top 4 branches. I am very amazed as to the fact this plant is even still growing. ( Due to the sad fact it is only under one fluoro ballast containing 2 warm whites giving the plant hardly any light at all) After reading this thread, and finding out today the sex of my plant. I am going to have to give my 2 cents and say day 1 flower is when you see the pistils. cause i had my plant for 3 weeks 12/12 and no sign at all.. Honestly i was getting ready to scrap the poor thing. I'm so happy now though

I normally go from the start of the 12/12 cycle.

If you were smart enough to read you would see that I am explaining that you can't go by the suggested time even as a reference unless you are working with a mature plant - if you did you would be off by weeks.

Try reading before showing yourself as an ass.

I to count as the frist day of flower as the day i filp my lights.
But it doesn't matter how many weeks it takes for my plant cause i don't harvest until i see the classic signs.
like 70% to 80% of the pistols turn brown and the bud is hard and compacked.
that is when i know it is time, but thats just my opin.
