Buds, good point I think there is little diff. between dems and repubs.
If they were using common sense in washington, conservative or liberal would depend on the issue.
They don't both parties crank up the fear mongering the minute their policies are in trouble.
Look at health care. The shit being said is amazing.

Rather than focus on a particular issue, I try to get back to my core philosophy when determining my thoughts on any issue. Since I don't believe one person or a group of persons should run another peaceful persons life by others account I am sometimes "liberal", sometimes extremely conservative. Which is not an accurate portrayal at all. The reality is my philosophy is libertarian based and consistent. Sometimes Democrats or Republicans will hold a libertarian view point, but by and large both are inconsistent and follow "issues" rather than a core philosophy.

Sometimes Democrats are libertarian, regarding marijuana legalization many Democrats take a libertarian stance. Yet they fail to recognize if logic says you should own your own body, it also says you should own your own wallet. When they advocate taxing others using force, they are being inconsistent. A similar contradiction exists among conservatives. They are right there with me on the small government thing (I'm for a very very very small government lol)
yet when it comes to somebody owning their body they want a big government to use force against people who may have different views.

For instance I think taxation is extortion, well I know that by literal definition it is actually. I also think people should be free to grow or ingest anything they like. I believe most wars are politically driven and are not based in the causes the perpretators use to gain support for their wars, in other words they are about money and control.

I oppose national healthcare, it involves forcing others to comply and authorizes more legal extortion and somebody else deciding who owns your decisions.

I oppose drug laws, I do not advocate anybody use drugs, I advocate people decide for themselves.

I am FOR liberty and freedom. I am for protection of individual rights. In order to ensure mine, I must respect others right to theirs. My philosophy is consistent. I cannot say the same for either Democrats or Republicans.

2 to 1 Americans define themselves as conservatives over liberals. many conservative growers used to be liberals (I did). But we grew up.

I am an independent, and no party actually encapsulates all of the issues. It's much better to take each issue individually, instead of towing a party line attitude.

Generally speaking, the country is better off with gridlock in Washington.

Most of the thinkers and money makers are tightening their belt and holding on till Obama can be replaced as soon as possible.

If Obama is reelected, there will be a mass exodus of capital and citizens.

I will be one of them.

I'm a republican only because at this political juncture, a third party center or right would only serve to hand elections to democrats.

It works both ways IS....

Remember Governor Brown out of California ... he gave the Dem's fits and seizures.

Hey, if enough "right" minded Dem's and Repub's left their respective parties and joined the Independents, they would both be crippled, and for the first time in a LONG time, the PPL would truly have a representative to campaign for them.

Hey, if enough "right" minded Dem's and Repub's left their respective parties and joined the Independents, they would both be crippled, and for the first time in a LONG time, the PPL would truly have a representative to campaign for them.
the problem of "fear" remains, the fear of our elected officials that they may not garner the support needed to remain in office as an independent and the fear of the voters that there will not be enough of a power shift to weaken the major parties and allow their candidates a chance.

elected officials often spend their entire lives creating the fiefdoms on which their careers depend. even a single term out of office would destroy all that work and force them to start from scratch. those politicians that enter public service to actually serve the people are few and far between, for the most part they are merely serving the agenda which provides them with the best chance of retaining power. to put their positions in jeopardy for the sake of "the will of the people" runs contrary to their political survival.

the people themselves are generally too ill-informed to determine where any candidate truly stands. they are fed half-truths and misinformation by those in power and the representatives of the candidates and seldom know or care where their self-centered desires will lead the country. they only know that the two major parties wield enough power to at least come close to enacting their promised legislation and cast their ballots in the hope that some of those promises were not outright lies.

the mob that is the voting public seldom concerns itself with the consequences of government's policies beyond their own immediate well-being. the mob is unconcerned with justice, it merely demands the appearance of equity and the promise that examples will be made as a show of progress. the mob does not care if government actually succeeds at its appointed tasks, it just wants to see some action being taken and to be given a scapegoat when all of government's promises are proven to be lies.

One of the reasons why I would like to go back to 1912 Congress. Senators should NOT be elected by the public. HOR should not be a place one can stay indefinitely.

Our founding fathers knew that the deck needed to stay shuffled.

I said "at this political juncture." The only thing that can save democrats is the splitting of the republican vote by a third party. And believe me, the democrats are well aware of that and working hard to make it happen.

I think it is time for the Ron Paul libertarian people to accept that third parties have to be grown from the ground up. Start electing state reps then congressmen then may run a candidate for president. Right now all that group can do is be a spoiler.

RP becoming a VP doesn't mean an end to the Independent party. far from it.

There is no law that says the VP must be from the same party. Paul could be an Independent, just like Lieberman.

By the way, hats off to Lieberman for being a man of principles.

I'm just an American that will vote for the best candidate if there's one on the ballot. I used to be liberal (voted against Nixon) then went republican out of fear (Bushes). Then when that was over I decided they're all a bunch of fuck heads. You can pick a few good people out of the crew but as a whole I'd call them all cocksuckers... er with a capital C.

Nixon / Republican. The biggest cocksucking Nazi bigot in the history of the Republican Party that I know of. He hated potheads, Jews, and African Americans (and anyone that disagreed with him). He's the man responsible for the war on all of us with the creation of the DEA and the dissmissal of the Schafer Commision's findings.
