Which Reflector

Hi Peeps

Can anyone recommend which reflector to buy? Money isnt an issue. Space isnt an issue. Temps are not an issue.

Ive used a fair few over the years and Ive never been entirely happy.

Basically I am looking for something with very even light spread. I am looking at the parabolic reflectors but I have issues with the vertical positioning and how much light you would waste with it having to bounce of the sides first, then downwards.

Ive also been looking at the Vertizontal reflectors which are like the new parabolic reflector but with horizontal positioning of the lamp. Therefor directing light downwards increasing intensity somewhat.

The Growstar is another reflector I hear more often than not, but surely its the same principal, light having to bounce of the sides first, then downwards. Losing out Intensity. I know they are excellent for light spread but I want Intensity. And I know Intensity comes with heat, but I can take care of that.


Has anyone used the Vertizontal reflector?

Can anyone whos tried and tested over the years and stuck with the one they like, would appreciate your input.

jk, but a nice batwind style would be better than the vertizontal the issue i see with that reflector is a lot of wasted light and reflector area that wont get light(at the bas of bulb)

if it where me and i had no worrys like you say, i would get the OG reflector. go to think distance between reflector and bulb is like inches so you cant be losing out on that much intensity i would say less than 10% depending on the reflector.

The bit about the vertizontal issue and a lot of wasted light? I thought due to the surface area of the shade and the horizontal positioning of the lamp, I would of thought the light intensity would be pretty good? As the light hits the reflector and shines back down on the ladys.

Are you sure your not on about the parabolic reflector? As I can see an issue with a lot of wasted light with it bouncing off the sides first then downwards. And I keep reading use your tent walls to your advantage with the parabolics. Which is fine but Id rather my light be going more direct.

I hear that the parabolics you can get ladys closer. But doesnt necessarily mean they are receiving max light output. Due to the vertical position of the lamp . Correct me if im wrong lol.

Ive just googled OG reflector, looks decent. Im not going down the air cool route tho as temps not a prob. And I hear the glass cover wipes out any Ultra Violet rays?

Is there anyone got experience of the Vertizontal reflectors ? Doesnt seem to be too many reviews on it.

Dont know if you have checked HTG Supply but they have a wide range of models at great prices.

Im using bigfoot reflectors from Maverick Sun. The best I have used yet! A very even canopy is the result of a good spreading reflector. I you do decide to use a closed hoods buy them with 8" exhaust ports instaed of the standard 6"

I also use diffusers under all my bulbs. Right under the bulb is the hottest but with these diffusers they reflect the uv back into the hood spreading it out more evenly instead of a hot spot. Right under the light my temps dropped 8 degrees allowing me to get much closer.

I have grostars spaced 6 ft apart and they give an awesome and the intensity seems just fine. I would highly recommend them.

I was researching the grostar a while back and didnt find much. I'm really happy with my purchase! Spacing 6 ft instead of 4 is gold! The canopy seems to be growing pretty even with no hotspots. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants larger than 4x4 spread.

I almost bought an og. Op look at the sunlight systems luxor.

Their Big Kahona weighs about 50 lbs and leaks horrifically at every seam, joint, rivet, or fitting. Comes with no socket either, but they will throw one in for free if you ask. Absolute junk. Blockbuster 6 weighs about 15 lbs and only leaked a little where the cord went in. Easy fix. HTG is cheap, but the quality is sub par.
