White MOLD on my root ball during tansplant; Should I kill it off?

Just transplanted my last plant from a 3 gallon container to a 5 and I noticed that there were 2 spots on the exterior that had white mold. Also, at the bottom of the pot, some of the roots just broke off and stuck to the bottom of the container. Looks like the root system may be unhealthy...should I just eliminate this problem now or is there a remedy I should try?

Don't sweat broken roots from transplanting. They not only heal but generate 2 to 4 new tips as they do.
funny you mention that, I read a long time back of UB's techn. of slicing the rootball when transplanting. i was going to finally try it out on my next transplant. same theory applies.

That's an old gardeners technique, any time you transplant seedlings with rootbound, wrapped up roots you should slice them.. UB can't take credit for that idea lol.

no need to get all butthurt cause I credited ub for posting the tech. i know you 2 have your problems, but if you knew how much i have learned and saved from reading his posts, you would understand why i give him credit. when people say to me," I love your weed", I credit that to my mentor who told me to go read everything UB posts.

UB has contributed a lot of useful info to this forum, but he is a crotchety old fart that is more interested in having his ego stroked than actually helping people.

I don't care about his attitude, I can be just as much of a dick sometimes. I'm here to learn all i can, not make friends and judge people on there internet persona.

I would cut off the areas that have the mold. You can also do a soil drench with some hydrogen peroxide (diluted) which should kill any mold spores remaining and not harm the plant .... unless you're growing organically, because I believe the H2O2 will kill the beneficial beasties in your soil. I'm sure someone like Rrog can chime in here and confirm/deny that.

You had a plant that wasn't doing so well, and it looked like a case of over-watering to me. This kind of confirms that. Mold will take hold when there is too much moisture, and not enough air circulation. Water LESS, and make sure you have some fans blowing some fresh air down by the base of the plant. Those roots need oxygen.

Root aphid infestation will sometimes show a white material. Might want to scope out if you have the wrong creepy-crawly's.

I'm not butthurt.. don't even go there.. I thought it was funny is all, hell my dad taught me that shit when I was like 6.. seriously. I don't have any problem with UB.. I can debate with people without having a problem with them, I don't think it was me who resorted to name calling and shit in that one lol. Once shit gets ugly then I dish it right back..

UB is very knowledgeable, there's no doubt about that. But I'm not going to credit someone while they are calling me a noob either lol.

I can tell your no noob. I've learned from reading your posts to. I actually just got some veg and bloom after seeing your grow. On another thread, one guy is saying he is yellowing with there formula in flower and I was gonna ask you what you thought about that.https://www.rollitup.org/nutrients/513971-veg-bloom-all-phase-all-36.html#post8384570

I unfortunately can't post any pics as the white mold was only on two small spots on the sides of the root ball so it's buried under a new layer of ocean forest now.

Assuming this is from over watering, will allowing it to simply dry out more thoroughly fix this or do I have to run h202 through the pot? I think I screwed up and just watered this one a bit too much...I'm also going to get a fan circulating air underneath the canopy. Hopefully that will help. I'm also going to bring the humidity down a bit. At times, it creeps up to nearly 60% at night. I may not even use the humidifier anymore. RH in the room is usually about 35% with no humidifier.

Ok guys and gals i got a mold question for ya, and yes at noon est ill have color pics from my powershot so you can discern this ....this ...thing ive got growing in one pot alas i digres this is my first time recycling my old soil so maybe ive screwed up somehow? it covers almost the whole base area around the stem and the whole top part of the exposed soil on the pot top. I'll have pics soon. Does anyone have a referance guide to good bad mold in soils and what they look like? by this i mean are they as easily identifiable as say reg mold spore's?

IMG_0222.jpgIMG_0224.jpgIMG_0225.jpgIMG_0226.jpgIMG_0223.jpgthe first three pics are of the one pot that has the strange mold growth and the second two are the same exact soil in a diff pot ironicly enough. Any idea's wtf it is? is it harmful?

i have the same problem man. ive been waiting for someone to answer ur last question about letting it dry out all the way for awhile or doing the drench

the top 2 threads in my sig link to two of my fav threads by them

the middle one - it's all bullshit - by fdd is prolly the best thread ever on this forum, although the lollipop thread with UB against the world is pretty fucking awsome too rofl
