White powder = powdery mildew?

I have noticed some white powder that appears to just rest on the leaves. Comes off real easy...ive always thought it was left over diatomaceous earth sediments resting on leaves. I am starting to think it is powdery mildew. Anyone have any information as how to rid of this? Is it harmful during flower?

Yes. You have powdery mildew. You need to take care of it because it will make your buds harmful to smoke. I had this problem with my White Widows in the late flowering stages, and I solved the problem pretty easily after I did a bunch of research because I didn't want to spray anything on my buds.

Try a mixture of 1 part skim milk and 9 parts water. Mist your plants with this for a few days, but make sure you have a dehumidifier going at all times. Powdery mildew is made up of spores that land on leaves and germinate under humid conditions over 50% and temps that are under 76. I was keeping my humidity in the 40s, but I ended up lowering it to the 30s because it was still spreading over my leaves. The problem has been resolved and my buds still smell and look great.

Hope this helps you out!

u know i am starting to think it is runaway diatomaceous earth. i used it a few weeks back and it did get all over the place. have u seen what powdery mildew looks like under a microscope? i compared the two and they are looking the same. will it look like spores under a 30x?

I've never had to compare the two because I grow aeroponically. There's not much need for insecticide when you don't have a growing medium and you use H202. So my problem was pretty easy to evaluate. Even if you think that might be the issue, it won't hurt to lower your humidity and spray them just in case it might be PM. What strain are you growing? Some are more susceptible to this than others.
