With me, it's all about time management. I used to post at work, so in effect, I was getting paid to RIU. Now I only work one night a week, and have way too much actual work to have time to RIU while there. So that means that it's all coming out of my time. Even with the most stupid on ignore, these threads still have way too many posts for me to read, so I will skim or skip to the end, according to time restraints.

I could care less if someone puts me on ignore. I've been talking to myself most of my life anyway. I don't need an audience. If anything it just makes me feel superior to the weaklings that don't have the mental strength to read or hear something they don't like or agree with.
What's that saying?
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Since I don't have anyone on ignore I can see what those who have ignored me are posting but they can't see my posts. In the real world that would be an advantage in business, sports, etc... Imagine one team watching another team practicing and seeing the plays they use while the other team puts the opposing team on ignore.
But this really isn't the real world for some. Some shelter and hide because they're timid and weak. They're able to adjust the content they see to show only what they want. There may be a time to ignore someone and I'm sure that many only did it as a last resort. I haven't found that need as I just ignore people without using the ignore feature. I just don't read their posts. I skim right over them. Although I usually get the jest of their post as I'm a pretty good speed reader. I'll try not to reply to posts from members that I know have me on ignore. But I can't always remember who they are and I don't make any effort to keep track.
This is the internet. You can choose what you want to read. If people want to mold the content to fit into their own little world then let them.

I can see you all. I put folks on Ignore only if they deny reality. I quit Facebook & cut waaay back on Twitter because it was wasting my time and playing into the hands of state trolls. I wonder if they (Russia, China, Iran, etc.) would actually try to create chaos on this board. I doubt it but who knows. People are getting amped in the politics forum, myself included.
BTW, whoever the ignored member was I'll never know since more people posted after him/her/it and I don't remember what the title of that post was. I know he/she/it didn't aggravate me that day though.

BTW, my RIU experience became much better just by clicking that once person into silence.
