Ron Paul believes that the ninth and tenth amendments to the U.S. Constitution do not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion. Instead, it is up to the individual states to prohibit abortion.

sounds to me like ron paul can seperate personal belief from national policy, unlike trying to force everyone to buy a minimum amount of health care

Obama still will receive my vote... I think health care for all citizens of the United States is long over do..How can we say we are a nation that cares for her people when we can't give something that other nations give, which is health care... I also like the Credit Card Bill of rights that prevents arbitrary rate hikes and makes contracts clear which was badly needed in a banking industry that has/had run amuck. I also enjoyed his small business tax break that help me with obtaining insurance for my employees. My wife love that he added money to the Violence Against Womens Act, a cause that she donates time and supports...She also likes that he significantly cut prescription cost for Medicare clients, as a nurse she has seen how not being able to afford medicine can affect someone. My mother being a teacher for "children with special needs" appreciated that he added 12 billion for Individuals with Disabilities Education Act..My list is long of what this man has accomplished and I don't see any candidate that even comes close to doing what this man has done or has tried to do...

Ron Paul lost me on his Civil Rights issues...No I don't think that I should have the right to ban people out of my business just because.... He feels I do..Property Rights will never override Civil Rights with me....but some things he says I do like, but that Civil Right issue closed the door on him with me..

CAN WE PLEASE KEEP THIS THREAD TO WHO IS YOUR CANDIDATE AND WHY, so no attacks on other candidates just state why you think your guy is the best choice

while ron paul believes in letting the people choose for themselves,
Not pregnant women. Why is that so hard for you to admit? He doesn't want to allow pregnant women to choose and has introduced bills in Congress to force the Federal Government into taking away choice for these women. I cannot and will not ever support a candidate that wants to force women to have babies by law and Ron Paul has introduced such laws at the Federal Level.

Actually private businesses do have the right to refuse service for any reason, and if that reason is due to discrimination you have the constitution to protect you, and ron paul is the primary constitutionalist running.

What's wrong? You and Drama not liking what you're finding out about your guy?
no we just want to hear peoples reasons for picking their candidate, not people smearing each others political choices, hence starting a thread specifically for sharing your reasons for picking your candidate, and since i dont believe that "cause at least hes not the other guy" is a good reason to pick any candidate.

No a business that does commerce does not have the right to refuse service for any reason....and you contradict your self in your own statement... for if they had the right how would the constitution protect you if the had the right...

Not smearing your candidate just point out why I cannot support your candidate and using his own words to do so. I know you guys think that RP is an unflappable Messiah but nobody is. RP has his faults.

He wants the Federal Government to define life as beginning at Conception BY LAW. He also considers all abortions to be murder. He wants to control the bodies and lives of women when it comes to reproductive health. Not Libertarian in my mind at all. He'll never get my vote because of that stance.
Well doesnt Science claim that life begins at conception ?

Not voting for Ron Paul because science doesnt fit in with your ideology of birth control makes no sense.

Right, but he doesn't believe in Woman's freedoms and I cannot support a man that doesn't.

But thanks for admitting that you consider him Fault Free. You think he is perfect in every way. I get that. Thanks for admitting it.

Ron Paul on the issues? You sure don't know much about him Drama.
Sorry Bendy, but Ron Paul might believe in defining life at conception, but that has shit all to do with abortion. RP STILL Emphatically gives the power of making abortion legal or Illegal to the State, not the Federal.

You think a president can get elected and then just change every law to suit his needs? You think if RP becomes president he is just going to change the Constitution by himself? That's laughable.

No, I cannot support him because his position on abortion contradicts his Libertarian message. His stance on abortion makes him a discriminating hypocrite. Sorry.

  • Abortion is murder. (Apr 2008)
  • Roe v. Wade decision was harmful to the Constitution. (Apr 2008)
  • Define life at conception in law, as scientific statement. (Feb 2008)
  • Protecting the life of the unborn is protecting liberty. (Feb 2008)

Ron Paul on Abortion.
I WANT the Quote where he says he will try and make abortion ILLEGAL EVERYWHERE if he becomes president.

No, but all the Obama haters sure think that. Have you heard from any of them these days?

And I have said that if RP is elected he wouldn't get anything done as he has no support in Congress on either side of the aisle. He would be a lame duck from day one. Have said that all a long.
