Question: I have three seedlings, ( fem AK48's) healthy but they are stunted. This is what i did. Germed in paper towels, all seed cracked. put them in wet rock wool cubes and put the cubes into soil, they are under 125W CFL, been 8 days and they are not growing. Has me stumped, should i switch to 400w HPS or what???? Need help

What was the ph of the water you soaked the rockwool in? What is the temperature of the room and the temperature of the grow medium?
I would consider a heating pad under the fellers.

I have a 5*5*8 room, what lights do you recommend?

Now I have 3-150hps, 1-400hps, and 1-175mh, its nice and bright, white walls, temp stays between 72-85 (on/off), air in , air out, my humidity stays high, around 65,

I suggest a 1000w lamp.
Consider vertical growing as well. You could add a 600w, keep the 400w, and supplement with the HPS systems. Or you could use just a 1000w system, or any variety in between. Minimum I'd go with is 1000w though.

Budget about $180 for the ballast, another $70 for a bulb, and maybe $90 to $150 more if you need a reflector, less for a simple socket.

You'll probably want to add an exhaust fan for another $100 or so, probably less.

ok guys. im getting into DWC but im a little foggy about the feeding schedule still. after about an hour of reading ive found no real good answer. but from what i gather i change my rez every week, adding the nutes at that time to the desired PPM. and i only top off the system with ph water until i change my rez again. 7-10 days
Does this sound right?
or do i try and keep the ppms at the desired level until i change my rez. ill be using ionic nutes if it matters.

No, not a nitrogen problem noname40.
Your setup sounds like the most ghetto of setups... I'd know... I did the same thing when I was starting out.

Swap out your 4 foot tubes and aquarium lights for cfl bulbs. Daylight spectrum, 25ish watts. Keep them about 2 inches from the plants.

There's 100 other things to cover... but I don't know what you don't know.

Thanks for this thread. I know if chemical ferts (MG and etc) are used , they must be flushed for a while to get rid of the bad taste. If organic nutrients are used in a soil grow, will they also leave a bad taste if not flushed?

Growing isn't cheap.

That bulb and the activated charcoal would help, but they are not the solution to your problem.

The only inexpensive and effective method I know of is using Ona. Look the stuff up, I use a block in my room and it does a very good job of creating a pleasant smell. I use a carbon filter, so I don't really need the Ona, but it gives me peace of mind.

Thank you for the advice snow. I know growing will cost some money but since all of the product is for personal use, I'm trying to keep costs low. I have about 1000 dollars to put toward everything. So far my plant are growing well. i just want to make sure they are going to be concealed. Do you have any links or suggestions for a carbon filter? I am not adverse to buying something more than ona or gonzo. I just need something A) already built and B) easy to maintain. thanks again:)

Im starting my first indoor grow with a DWC and my questions are what grow medium should be put i the net pots rockwool or hydroton or is it a mix of the two? my second question is what nutes are most agrred upon to have the best results? Ive been thinking of using dr hornbys or the fox farm and its feeding schedule.

Thanks for the help!

Sorry for the change of subject but:
I am having some trouble, my plants (kannibia Power Skunk, Kannibia Special Fem, and Barney's LSD) are under 15 23 watt 2700k CFL
lights. They are in ph 6.5 potting mix and I am using Jack's Classic flowering fert with 1 teaspoon of blackstrap molasses. I did have trouble
during veg. and very early flower. My temps with the light's out got down to 60 degrees. The plants were pretty much dormant for
the late veg. to early flower. I smartened up and got a I got a heater and the plant's shot up! Now temp's
are 80 degrees 24-7. The plant's put out pre flowers and then just stopped growing. I have been watering every 3-4 day's (more since the heater)
and I LST'd them at the start of flower. They have been flowering since Feb.6th.
