You're starting a commercial grow op, but currently still buy weed? Good luck!
Lol I'm growing all my own flower but I want enough to be able to produce a large amount of live rosin as well so that I can stop buying hash oil/edibles/etc.
Space and location are currently majorly limiting factors for me (rented property in a major urban area)... but if everything goes to plan I'll have about 26 acres available with a house on it early next year..... then it's game on.

Well I have bad news for ya. Mars and Spider Farmer are both made at the same factory. Same company basically.
Mars- epistar chips. spider farmer- samsung
Mars- no name driver. Spider farmer-meanwell
Mars-very thin heat sink/ shield. Spider farmer uses 3/32 or 1/8 aluminum heat sink.
Might be the same factory but def not the same materials. Also none of my spider farmers have died or trie to kill me

They look a little nicer, but I wouldn't get either personally. I'd spend a few more bucks and get the HLG boards. But it's your money.

The new Mars FC series seem to be different parts. Looks like Samsung LM301 or Osram 660nm now. I'm not familiar with Inventronics drivers though

Hopefully enough people click my link/view my page I don't have to pay for either!
The top two prizes are both enough/slightly too much for my space.... even the third place prize is more powerful than what I've got in my little tent.

Couldn't find a picture they hadn't stuck an ad over so sorry for that BUT this looks like the strip LED build I wanted to do before I decided to focus on moving outdoors in the spring. Like legit heatsink and all that. Not sure why they designed it to fold in half but whatever....

##updated- found a picture without an add and deleted the original.

I must admit I looked at Mars and Spider Farmer, I was leaning toward Spider Farmer but went another way. I went back and forth for a few months and finally decided on neither. My new light arrived today, not really the place to post this I guess but just opened the box and am pretty happy I made the purchase. View attachment 4686937View attachment 4686938
NICE HLG! The fact that you did consider the others still speaks plenty for them... it's not like they are the best lights out there (or even in that ring) but for someone that is cash strapped it is a decent option to get into growing...get used to it save some money and then get something nicer.... always has to be an "entry level" option :-)

I spent months drooling over the 550 RSPEC but when it came down to it I just couldn't justify the price tag at the time.

Just curious, what makes the hlgs better or why do you prefer hlg?
Because they're the highest quality boards you can get. They started this whole quantum board thing. Everyone else just copied their designs.

And this is why.

Yes indeed, smiling ear to ear. The one thing I did notice is their newer models like this Rspec 600 don't use a Meanwell driver but rather an Inventronics driver. Just reading about those now, lol.

i have Atreum boards but same thing for me too. these US companies invest a LOT in r&d and then they get copied overnite by china.

here's a quick story: so i used to work on packaging machinery . we put one of our newest machines in at a beer plant in China. when i got there and got it running, there was a handful of chinese behind the glass walls taking pics and notes of our machine. i'm sure as soon as i left for the day, they were climbing all over it

I’m not trying to argue or be confrontational. I really want to know what makes then the highest quality. What makes them better? I’m pretty sure all the Samsung boards come out of the same factory. To be clear I’m not a huge spider farmer fan either or a fan of any lighting company really
