Who's Nibblin' My Leaves?

Hey, I'm a newbie grower still, for the most part; got a clone, let it root for a good bit then stuck it outside. It's been doing fine but I went out this morning and I saw something had nibbled off some leaves and left them there. Anyone know what it could be so I could research prevention methods, if possible.

I live in So. Cal near Magic Mountain, 30 minutes North of LA; chaparral/desert area.

Could be anything, Id definitely invest in some poultry fencing to protect you plants.

critters. erect a chicken wire fence and be glad you don't have deer.

I am in so cal and the worst are always those little caterpillers!! one or 2 can destroy a plant in a couple days.

Birds - That looks like bird damage, they usually go for the sweet new leaves and leave the larger leaves on the ground. I've had the same problem. Little fu@#ers. Invest in that green netting or a scarecrow. The birds in my area (UK) that seem to like the leaves are sparrows and / or tits
