But that's not the case. Obama also might have rapidly put a system in place like the one in South Korea with federal leadership which would have kept people employed. We get it, Obama isn't president. We get it, It's Trumps fault that almost the entire world is on lockdown and a famine is coming. Let's even call it the Trump virus. These things are all very helpful and not at all just politicized garbage buzzwords to capitalize on the crisis and get someone else elected...

The entire globe is on fucking lockdown and the overwhelmingly vast majority of kids can not see their grandparents BECAUSE of the lockdown. My kid hasn't even seen the damn sky. Besides that, allowing people like me, with antibodies, to go out and find someone's car to fix or groceries to deliver (since my business won't open anytime soon) does not preclude your household continuing to isolate.

As you said, there's no food shortage yet, but the UN recently released a statement that a food shortage crisis is on the way if nothing is done to avert it. I'm assuming you realize that almost all food int he world relies on international markets. Even the grain for livestock.
Think this through, even if it were possible to keep the apex of the curve above the baseline all the way until there's a vaccine, the damage to the world's supply chains would be total. I'm suggesting that it's not even possible to keep the apex of the curve below the baseline. All the US needs is one more city to spiral out like New York and that strategy will have failed. Many cities are now on course for that.
It's not about how bad opening the economy sounds and how scary. It's necessary to let people with antibodies keep the supply chain going.

Any reopening in America will not affect conditions where you live. What's Dirtbag saying there? The social pressure must be getting enormous, soon goons will be getting killed or getting smart. I'm sure containment conditions aren't nearly as severe in the countryside and small towns. There will be no massive testing there, so other than banning mass events, restaurants and bars, I don't see why the local government is even bothering, a western solution is not a phillipine solution. We do what we must to survive and I don't see the government doing any good there with a lockdown. Where you are, what you are saying is applicable, it might even be in America, if they don't get their shit together soon. Other richer and better organised countries have other options, shelter in place and social distancing are part of a coherent strategy, along with testing and treatments to mitigate the pandemic. Every country will approach this differently and poor countries will deal with it in the traditional way.
Americans pay taxes based on citizenship and you should be eligible for American government dole, if you have a US bank account they should deposit $1200 in it.

We're on course for both outcomes. Many are dying at greater rates than the strategy hoped to achieve and supply chains are faltering more quickly than it was predicted.
