Why are my colas not filling in?

I noticed when ever i topped a plant like afgan kush, it grows bushy with lots of colas but the thing is the colas never really fill in. Like it has a nice top cola but underneath it is just small nugs or barely developing nugs, the ak flowering time is said to be 45-55 days to mature but shit it looks more like 10 weeks instead of 8. But the untopped one looks nice and filling in well its just when its topped it does that.
 
when you top it forces more colas, but the growth potential is still the same. instead of one fat main cola, you have several smaller ones.

what light are you using?

600 watts LEDs on 2 plants my lights have nothing to do with it becuase i have an outdoor afgan topped kush doing the same thing
 
its Could probably be the pheno becuase its from seed and they all have different phenos, but the short pheno has 7-8 colas and are fillin in nice but the taller stretchy pheno looks lanky and more sativa like im terms of stretch and numbers of colas. I gew it before and they All do that the ones that stretched tall, lost of leaves on the stretchy one yellow up and died for no reason but the short one still has most of its leaves and green.
 
Also the short pheno seem to be packing weight and arnt shooting new pistoles all hairs are orange but the taller sativa ak looking one is still shooting mad new pistols the indoor and outdoor one which is making me think its gonna need more time am i right on this?
