Why are so many new growers choosing blurple/led over hps/mh??

Yup, show me measurable increases in terps, thc, thcva, cannabinoids and or yield per sq foot

If LEDs are superior why arnt all the farms everywhere using them, not just for cannabis...
I am not in this argument, so I am not taking either side. But don't most commercial non cannabis grows use LED's in Europe? Like when you watch them sorta how its made things and they are hydro growing veggies, arent most using LED?

I would of thought EU regulations of efficiency would mean you couldn't use HPS ?

I can defend myself easily and at a high enough level to see that you and many others arent clever enough but like to act that way.

I dont goto quantum science sites and tell them what dark matter is so why you lot here trying to tell us how to grow - hmmmm...!
Hey man, I am new here. Do you have any pics of your grows with HPS? I am eager to see the differences in what people yield with what lights.

Cannabis requires much higher amounts of light then most vegetable crops...

And you see plenty of people growing with LEDs. But if something is the silver bullet then everyone would be using it...

Word travels fast when you are making money spending money and if that silver bullet kills it for 40% less power...[ insert fucking Vince mc man woooo!!]

I am totally new. However this anecdotal bit of evidence has me convinced hps is better than burples.

I was trying to germinate my first seeds under burple, taking ages, nothing was happening. I moved the cube hole with a pin and looked at the seeds, nothing had happened.

Took the burple my mate gave me down put my hps up. All of the seeds have shot out and are climbing high.

I know that isnt very scientific, but meh, the hps seems better to me.

Hey mate, have you tried a air cooled reflector hood? My mate has 2 1000w hps. when he ran them without the cooling hoods, it was 55c in the tent. Now he has the air cooled reflectors and colf fans, it sits at around 27c lights on, 21c lights out.
I'm now running 2- 1000w in my 4'x8' in sun system yield masters. Room temp is 21C, tent doesn't get above 26C.

I was running 2- 600w in a 4'x4' and tent temp never got above 25C.

Air cooled hoods are definitely required!

Seeds will pop without a light. Majority of those running propagation areas use T5 florescent tubes, I use a single 24W LED strip. That Blurple is fine for veging in smaller tents.
HPS is more a flowering light.

I dont do grows for comparison and last grows posted here were last year and start of this but i git bired and started pushing the knowledge so we could get rid of this constant trolling which is seeing growers thinking hos is a hot shit light and how to dry etc etc.

If led out competed hos it would be obvious by now but since its still debafed that should tell you to use the light you like the most and stop trying to find the best or most efficient or anything that makes wild and stupid claims.

Id need to be on a computer not a phone to troll them up and there was an old uk thread many of us posted on :-)

I know of no uk regulation that limits light tyoes and can still find incandescent bulbs here for sale should i not want to use keds in home fixtures which were meant to be that efficient our carbon footprint would save the planet.

I have zero argument with resoe table members and on many other subjects you will find my info a second and normally better opinion than what is causing so much confusio..

Welcome to riu buddy but i feel grow sites have had their day and more used by those who only get led hype and drying confusion when reading industry rubbish.

:-)

Absolutely and use one, they're a must, that is for sure.
Ime, hps is a lot harder to manage the heat without aircon.

Efficiency wise, hps is the choice for me, because it heats my space.
Summer I'm outdoors, because i don't have aircon. In the event I did, led would still be my choice for efficiency. Imho I'd be saving quite a bit of money on the bill, for the same result.

Oh and most uk hydro shops dropped leds a coulle years back because they talk such ovwrinflated lies and bad science :-)

Air cooled hoods are pretty bogus, most heat is radiational and thus not extracred by air byt it does keep your reflector cooler but again the volume of air exhausted without one is still the sane and so the tent is cooled via normal exhaust the same way as air cooled reflectors :-)

The only constant trolling I see around here lately is you. You posted seedlings at the beginning of the year but got bored and started pushing the knowledge?

I just got myself a 600w hps. Would you say HPS is decent for a first couple of grows? If so what would you reccomend for an improvement after a few grows?

I see you don't like LED's. Does that mean quantum boards too? Or just the burple types? Do you like CMH?

You must get cheap power where you're at @.Smoke. 2.6K x 12h/day x 30d/mth x 25¢/kwh = $234/mth for me but I rarely have more than 1K going. Just scored 3 used sets of 600W digi ballasts, Hortilux SHPS bulbs and reflectors for $60 each. Try to find the equivalent in LED for that price. Decent LED ain't cheap and I wouldn't live long enough to recoup the initial price thru power savings I bet.

Were I much younger and planned on long term growing I'd get into DIYing my own custom COBs tho.

:peace:
damn 25 cents per kwh, they charge 13 cents in New Brunswick, it costs $100 to run 2 1000w HIDs at 18/6 $60 for 12/12. And I know people with $400 power bills that dont even grow, that would be $800+ to heat your house here.

All lights of high wattage will be fantastic for a new grower but you will have to create the same environment for all and thats the imlortant part not what you choose :-)

Sorry but this just isn't true and im not on either side of the LED argument going on in here. My HPS 600w had my tent at 37c. I am thinking of buying a cooled hood. So my mate has leant me his old goldstar one and his A1 fan.

My tent is now at 24c. He is keeping it for another tent and I am choosing one for myself. But I am sorry, I have seen the difference in my own tent, it is enormous.
