well i just came home today and went into the room the tent was in and it was stinking, i dont understand why, i have a carbon filter (only a month old) there is no intake, i just have the side vents open, so all air just gets sucked through the vents then the filter, why is it smelling

Maybe cause you have your side vents open?...perhaps the smell permiates through them while the lights are on, and off...

Check your ducting and such...perhaps theres a leak somewhere.

Might i ask what brand your tent is, and what specs does it have?

my tent is a bud box 75x75x1.6 what do you meen by specs? it cant be because the side vents are open there is negative pressure so it all gets sucked through the filter and the air vents into the same room as the tent, all ducting is inide the tent apart from a small bit, all the air passes through the filter

never thought before when the last guy said holes in the ducting but all the ducting that is in the insulation is perfirated............ this was bought from the hydro shop like that, cant see much air getting through tho cause of the insulation, wich is cable tied tight at either end, you never know tho this could be the cause, im going to get more of the white dicting and try that

thanks

If you're not using hose clamps make sure you do on every end of your ducting, from your pics it looks like you need at least 6, probably 6" too.

EDIT: Looks like you're using both 4" and 6" instead of all 6"...

the only thing that is 6 inch is the cool tube, the fan, filter and ducting are all 4 inch, one half looks like it is 6 inch because it is insulated, i need 5 clips in total, i only have 2, one on the fan and one on the cooltube, you cant see them cause of the insulation, the rest is cable ties, i will upgrade soon tho

thanks for the replys

Looks like you are scrubbing the air before it goes into the cooltube and ducting. This is sort of bad, cause any small little leaks or gaps in either the cooltube, or the ducting will allow un-scrubbed air to be exhausted out.

You'll want to figure out a way to make sure that every single little gap is sealed. THat insulated tubing is hard to work with and keep sealed properly, as opposed to that vinyl dryer vent hosing you have, which is easy to seal with some silicone glue, weatherstripping, neoprene gaskets, hose clamps, and my favorite - Aluminum tape.

You're gonna want to really seal the hell out of all that ducting and vent box, and make sure theres no gaps between the insulation and the outer wrapper in that tubing, other wise unscrubbed air will pass through.

What does it smell like? (sorry for the dumb question but stink isn't a word I'd use to describe weed LOL) Does it smell of weed or something else? My carbon filter has a smell to it and it's not weed. My wife says it's a sweet smell but all I think of is antifreeze.

you know what... im going to +rep you for this post

im going to try all this i think you are right, im might even replace the insulated duct with more dryer hose, and i also have some aluminum tape, if you look at the picture closely, under the cooltube you will see mylar stuck to the tent, that is what i uset to stick that up lol

anyway thanks i will let you know what the outome is when i have done it

Wow, I bet your jaw gets your ass kicked often if you spout off like that to everyone.

You asked for help, he was helping.

I guess enjoy your stinky house with that attitude.
