Wow, just happened to look in the Organics section again and see a thread i thought was dead.

Im defently see what your saying about the fast things, I got started on the compost thing late thats what I meant. I was really lookin for the compost mulch to put on top, not worm castings that should be mixed with the soil and itll probably be too late to do that before I harvest the poop.
Thanks for all the imput, for sure

I go to agway and get there composted cow manure and use that as a top dressing. It works and hasn't burned my plants yet. Just my 2 cents.

If you want to speed up your compost pile i think if you put urea on it and then water it that speeds up the decomposition.

I have worms in my yogurt containers with the seedslings...nice fresh castings all the time. the value of the worm is extremely undersung. much of the best farmland in america is a wormless N-P-K anhydrous dead zone...that's what feeds us!!!!! talk about crack whores! our food suply is on meth! were talkin' about some weak primordial chi for sure! and then we eat it. what's-a -matter with this country?! I mean: COME ON!!! it's the food supply dammit! if the worms can't handle the soil; something is outta' whack- waaay outta' whack!
that is one of my grandpa's tips that i still use.... if a worm wont live in your soil, then you need to re-evaluate your blend as there's something wrong.... if they WILL live in your soil, put em in there:-P

If you want to speed up your compost pile i think if you put urea on it and then water it that speeds up the decomposition.
which is why i always piss on my compost pile when i'm outside ;)
