OK, not sure where this would go so its in newbie central for some help... OK, So Ive put up with it for a couple of months now, and now that I've got my digital camera, and better pics up, I wish the fuckers would at least be loaded the correct way as it was taken in. For example, heres a pic of my diesel ryder I took today and took a vertical shot, and on my computer it is vertical. But in RUI server when I manage my attachments and load the pics, they come in like this... WTF:wall::wall::wall::wall:

Anybody have a reason what the hell I am doing wrong?

Wow dude I don't know what's up with your pics...

But clear cups are no good... roots should not be receiving light...

Pics changed...

LOL, perhaps they just look rotated on your computer. The image orientation is actually part of the image itself, so I'm guessing your camera either can't or isn't set to automatically detect the vertical or horizontal attitude when you take a pic.

You could try opening one of your images in a different program than you usually do. If you use Windows, right-click on a photo and try opening it in your web browser instead. If it still shows up sideways like on RIU, then it's the file itself and not something you're doing wrong. You can fix that easily on Windows or if you upload them to photobucket first ;)

it makes no sense, i load pics on facebook no problem. ive taken them on multiple cameras, they are all either landscaped or portraits when i upload them on my computer, then when they go to RIU its always landscaped. Ive thought about taking all my pics landscaped, but i figured after i got my other camera running it would solve that. I was wrong, I guess im not allowed to have any badass portraits of my trees... fuck my life.

Well, I tried it and it works both ways so hell if I know. I resized mine before I attached them so I dunno if you did or not, might make a difference. Either that or if you did you could have swapped the numbers by mistake, that'd do it. Here's the limitations chart for attaching images, but gl with that.

Filetype Max Filesize Max Width Max Height
bmp 19.5 KB 620 280
doc 19.5 KB - -
gif 2.95 MB 800 800
jpe 2.00 MB 620 280
jpeg 2.95 MB 800 800
jpg 2.95 MB 800 800
pdf 19.5 KB - -
png 2.00 MB 800 800
psd 2.00 MB - -

LOL I havent tried to resize them. Ill try that, but i feel like my phone takes somewhat smaller pics like 3 megapixels and i didnt think they would be too big. Ill try tho. Thanks for the advice.

Stop holding the camera sideways you idiot!...just kidding. Most digital cameras take photos that are much too large for a message board. If we were able to post 3000X2500 sized pics it would throw the entire page off-center in threads. So the file sizes are limited to 800 here I believe. I think it may be a setting on your camera causing the rotation.

yeah im definitely not worried about them. they will stay in those cups until I see enough roots traveling around, I love using the clear solo cups for new plants to monitor the clear cups. Im not sure who i got it from, but it def could have been you. Thanks for the positive reinforcement.
