I looked to see if anyone else had anything on this and didn't find anything, so here I am.

I put it in a cup full of rice. Anyone else ver do this? Did it work? How long did it take? Anything else work? Thanks

Powerful air compressor. Will dry that sucker out real quick. Seriously, my step dad did it with his cellphone that he dropped into the pond.

I got no valid input besides, "Dude, that sucks". Rice is a desiccant though, so it seems plausible that it might work.

Rice works, my wife's done it, just don't try and turn it on for at least a day or two.

Can't blame your wife on that one. ;-)

But yeah, turn it off and let it sit and rice for a few days, then try a hard reset to turn it on.

I don't know what kind of batteries Ipods have (because I am cheap and won't buy an Ipod) but I know that with cell phones the batteries shut off as soon as they get wet to protect the phone. As long as the phone was submerged a new battery will get it going again.

Then again, ipod batteries are prob expensive too...

Since iPod is an Asian dish, rice is appropriate. a Nokia should be served with those dark grain flat cracker things. cn

i did a small amount of electronics repair when i was in the navy, one of the things for water immersion was to immerse it in distilled water for a bit before trying to dry it to Prevent salt (water spots) from causing short circuits. no exp with ipad tho. gl

I've sent one of those shuffles through the machine machine and dryer, surprisingly it survived.

Did it clean up any of the lyrics?

(The rice will work, you already got good advice on it.)

For future reference, you should not immersion wash your electronics! (turns out that the Galaxy series, and Droids are also poor candidates for machine washing, sink washing, or even a quick toilet rinse.)

^^^^^ yea this.

If I can remove the batteries and there's no LCD screen I'll put it through a dishwasher, what can I say. As for the rice it can work but I've found unless you open the electronics you are looking at a lot longer than 3 days. Some of my stuff has taken as long as 3 months to come back online. BTW if you have hard water, shooting it with compressed air or distilled water is good advice too.

I think your wife just successfully communicated her interest in your emptying your own pockets. I must admit to deliberately washing an item or two in my time..... to make a point (to a recalcitrant learner).

I gave my offspring the "guess how you'll find yourself to have bought me a brand-new washer" speech recently.
