Wtf are these?

So, once again I have spider mites late in flower. I'm going to lose my mind with these fn things. But there were some other insects on the top of the leaves. They look like black/dark colored mites and move pretty fast. Any idea? I was hoping leftover predator mites, but those were not black. I'm at a loss. Going to try and vacuum the leaves, wipe them and then do a bud wash. But can anyone identify these other ones?

what have you done to try and prevent them from populating?

the smaller black dots are probably larva and the big ones are the adults.

They move way too fast to be larvae. Under a loupe it looked like a mite. It was really fast and they were off of the leaf, running around the piece of paper. I was using green cleaner and some soap and water, rotating them. But once flowering really picked up I stopped. I bought some other stuff yesterday, but that will have to come into play for the next run. I'm considering a bud wash after harvest. A lot of people swear by it

Agreed they look like some sort of aphid. And the behavior you've described matches aphids. So sorry to hear about your plant.

Dam the spider mites sounds like my perpetual thrip problem. Ive finally got them by completly painting sanitizing room with bleach water spray vacuuming repeat weekly for 3 months complete room destroy had to trash all my pepper plants and cucumbers and start from seed on all my weed and veggies but i gotta say now that im harvesting it was very worth it.

Lol, yeah I saw that video, after someone else mentioned it. I'm nervous to do it, but quite a few people said it works wonders.

Shit...mites was enough. I'm just going to be on top of them every day until I can harvest. Hopefully I can make it another 1-2 weeks

then its probably at its late life cycle where its a nymph.

what preventive measures have you taken?

It's crazy how hard it is to get rid of them, or how easily they find they're way back in. I'm tempted to use a hot shots no pest strip, but my cabinet is in the house and that stuff is supposedly really nasty

Green cleaner and soap/h2o. Bought captain jacks dead bug spray and dust, and got some spray with pyretherins, but I can't use it now as I'm deep in flower. And I have an email out, trying to get some predators. Even if I can use them to keep things under control until harvest. And I'm going to put some predators with my clones and seedling too

are these the preventive measure took before you noticed aphids or afterwards?

ladybugs/lacewings would be the only thing i could think of that would help without spraying them.

my action would be as this ~
Remove lots of foliage
spray plants with cold water at a decent pressure, outside then bring them in.
Discard top soil and replace top layer with fresh soil
add beneficial insects

The only thing on this list that will help slow down spidermites is the beneficial insects. Everything else on this list doesn't work.

You can defoliate as much as your heart desires you won't get them all.

You can spray the shit out of the plant. They will still be in the crevices and in the tent.

Removing top soil and replacing won't affect them at all as they live on and in the plant matter itself.

Spider mites are a fucking nightmare.

Yeah, I'm 2-2 on my first two grows in terms of getting them. I'm wondering if they somehow survived a cleaning and a month with no plant matter, or if they're getting into there on one of us. I definitely need to be better about being clean before going in. Unfortunately, it's in a room that my wife uses, so there are a lot of opportunities for them to get in. It is also a small grow closet and I believe it limits my effectiveness at spraying/checking every leaf.

I bought predator mites last time it happened, but they were expensive and there were too many. I'm waiting to hear back from a company that sells them in 500 packs. I think I'm going to get them every grow moving forward.

Yea they can survive a long time with nothing.

From what I've seen folks say to do after an indoor infestation is remove everything from the closet, and paint it. With white paint. Top to bottom.

.please don't tell me the closet is carpeted.....
