WTF is wrong with me...

So my parental units are coming into town this week and I just got done cleaning the house top to bottom. The damn place looks like I'm trying to sell it. I hid something like 15 grow books (a few MJ mags as well) hid my stash and am about to take the last hits off the vape until she leaves.

I'm fucking 33 and I'm still hiding my stuff like I'm in high school. For crying out loud, I have a college education, full time salary job, wife, and am just a few payments away from fully paying off my car and I'm STILL hiding from my mother after all these years.

She's so archaic in her views ... How the hell do I get out of this cycle?

Dude I don't blame ya man. Sometimes people just choose to be ignorant of the truth and there is nothing you or anyone else can say or do to change it.

Take a page from Popeye's book.Tell your mom, "I yam who I yam, mom."

stays relevant.
Or at least show your parents the respect of not exposing them to something they may not approve of. :)

Your parents don't need to know everything about you

Your parents must be a lot like mine. Conservative, Controlling, and afraid of everything they're ignorant too. I still hide my cannabis use from my folks because I'm not up for the reindeer games. But if your folks are anything like mine...you're used to this. You've probably been doing this your whole life.

You don't have to show your parents. Although, if you are willing to risk the cold shoulder to get the monkey off your back there's nothing that they can really DO about it.
I always thought you were alot older, with the retired and 76 in your name. :P

Everyday i want to tell my parents, but i don't want to risk ruining my relationship with them right now. I'm sure it will be different when i'm finished college and have finally moved out of here. But for now, I'll keep hiding it until i feel that its the right time to tell them.

I never told my parents. My mom asked me once and I told her the truth, she was cool. My Dad is still alive and he comes and visits me a few times a year. When he gets to the 'locked' door he looks at me and asks..."What is in there" I always tell him "My personal stuff" That seems to get the point across that it is none of his business. I don't feel the need to let him know about my growing just as I don't feel the need to tell him about my sex life...It is personal.

I feel you bro. My mom looks down on weed cuz its "more dangerous than I think." She wasnt happy when I told her im going to be involved in the mj business one way or the other after im finished with college. I tried to talk to her about it but she wasnt listening. Whatever though, she should know I think. Im tired of hiding it. My mom isnt going to change her views most likely, even if it is somehow legalized. Gov't Propaganda really fucked with her views.

No point to my story. Just in a similar situation :-x

i kno, some parents are kind of tough. i never really had that problem because when i was a kid nobody really cared what i did, which is why i got into things way too young. but you should have a sit down with your parents and tell them how you feel. tell them that your an adult and that you smoke weed, and thats somthing that their going to have to accept about you. im not saying that you should rub it in their faces by smoking a joint in front of them. out of respect dont do it around them, but atleast by you telling them, the weight is off your shoulders and everything is on the table.
