WTF Seed Pods? maybe?

Upon examining my plants today I noticed the pods you'll see in the pictures I've attached. Are those seed pods? Im not sure. I am growing through flowering under a 400w HPS and I veg under a 600w MH.

It seems crazy to me that I'd have pollenated females because I cut down 4 males from this grow that all had maybe 3 balls on them at the time that they were chopped, so it seems quite impossible that they would have had a chance to burst open and pollenate.

I wont be mad if they are seed pods. it just means I have tons of seeds and a lot more work to do at harvest. but I am hoping that maybe its just something else...that Ive never noticed before? Maybe? I did harvest one plant that was done and there were no seeds or anything that looked like that on the plant that was harvested.

These have been flowering for around 2 months now.

what do you think they are?! mysterious things on my plant.

Also...this is not my first grow. Ive probably got about 8-10 grows under my belt.

:o:o

I have grown this strain before and it was never hermies. actually...the seeds are from the same seeds that about 90% of my last grows have been from and none of those turned out to be hermies. :-\ also... there was no balls where the pistils came out when they were growing. Ill try and take some better pictures. They are in a grow tent in my garage so the lighting isn't the greatest

any other opinions?!

Well...I pulled one off just to check it out and what I found inside seems to be a seed.

Ive looked over all the plants and it seems as though if they were pollinated then only a few of the branches were that I can tell of. I just wonder how the heck they got pollinated so fast if I removed the males pretty much as soon as a ball showed up. >.<

here's a pic of the possible seed and of the plants in general.

I guess the question now is... when do I harvest them if there are seed pods? I mean... right now I'd say on some of the plants there are about 70% brown trichs...others only about 40-50%. on the one with more brown pistils some of the seed pods are slightly cracked open. is that a sign that i should harvest those plants?

more pix :fire::fire: ignore the droopy plant in the back. it's been pissed its entire life for whatever reason, but it hasn't seemed to stop it from growing and producing, so I just let it do its thang.

only 2 of the plants are close to 70% but what Im wondering is if there are seeds on them (which there seems to be) are they still ready to harvest at 70%? or do i need to wait longer?

Kind of in the dark on what to do if my plants have seeds on some of them because Ive never had a problem with a male pollinating a female, so I dont know what to do as far as how the harvesting process changes....if I need to dry the plants before I pull the seeds off? or before? when I know the seeds are done so theyll be good. Since i have them I'll use them.

It seems to be only a few branches throughout a few of the plants, so not too sure.

anyone else have some input...could reallly use some real advice, not one sentence replies.

Regardless of seeds, you should wait as long as you want based on trichs. Pick them when you want, right now is perfectly fine :weed:

well obviously I'll wait until they are good to smoke, but I'd like to make sure the seeds that are there can be germinated :) so Id like the best of both worlds. I think I read before that when they start breaking open the seeds are ripe or whatever, so I guess they look ripe. IDK....I just grow. I never intended to breed some seeds into the world, even though it is pretty interesting. lol.

those are seeds. you must have a random male flower here and there. unstable genetics maybe.

you can germ the seeds if you let them ripen before plucking them. i let mine go until they fall off when touched. the skin will turn brown when they are ready to be plucked.

Yeah haha, you've got your hand in the genetics of some weed now, those seeds and their offspring could get smoked by anybody. and also, I meant that by the time your bud looks ready to smoke, and after you dry your bud out regularly, then pick the seeds out normally after you break some bud up. That's what I've read up on what to do... :-o

what if the smoke is ready to be harvested but the seeds aren't quite brown yet? Right now they are a dark green and the seed pods are opened a bit which I think I read means they are getting ripe or at least on their way.

I think I have at least a week on one of the plants and probably closer to 2-2.5 on the other two. they are just past 8 weeks flowering now.

they may or may not germ.

i let mine ripen on th evine and get 100% germ rate. they start popping overnight.:weed:

judging by your pics, your plants have several weeks left to finish. they are just starting to fill in.

Yeah. I dunno because everything about this grow is so diffferent than my previous grows. Its the first grow with the tent and also my first grow using a HPS during flowering, So I feel like I did when I was just learning.

The tops still aren't anywhere close for sure. Ive noticed some lower branches that have quite a bit of brown trichs.

We'll see what the magnifier says in a few weeks.

what would you say "quite a while" means?

Im in no hurry since Im just a caregiver for a medical patient, but Im still curious to know since Ive seen your big plants :P
