I took these pics today while dropping off some meds to a patient's house. I am going to try and keep it positive because she may want to come see this post with pics of her babies. She has 10+ years of growing experience, although her methods would be considered "unorthodox" to say the least.

She told me that these plants were about 2 feet tall when she started flowering. Now the 3 plants are 6-7ft. tall and in 2.5 gal. pots. They are stretched a bit but not nearly as bad as would normally be expected from her lighting situation. She has a 150 HPS hanging over them and a 250w MH shining in on them from the side.

I have seen other grows of hers, and they normally come out pretty well considering the lighting she has. She can actually get 6 healthy 3ft. females to harvest with this setup...

One thing she is concerned about is the lack of resin production. She says these have been flowering for over 9 weeks. There is very little resin on most of the buds...

Amazing what some people are up to behind closed doors

Wow... pretty nice for unorthodox methods

How stretched do they look to you guys ? I need unbiased third party opinions. My first reaction to seeing this with the plants being taller than myself, the funky lighting, and the tiny pots was " You are fucking out of your mind " - but I said and meant it in a friendly way.

She is really looking for an answer as to why the resin production is so low 9 weeks into flower. The only thing I could suggest given her setup was:

The light is not intense enough over most of the 3 plants to create normal resin production. However since the plants are so damn big with a reasonable amount of bud it would seem that there should be enough light to create your average layer of crystals...

Shame :peace:

you are absolutely right about the stretching.

I'm betting that she's not moving the lights with the plants, or they would not be that stretched. If I were her, I would first of all get more light. Without that, I would drop it and keep it on top of them while they're flowering. That stretch is insane and not productive, as it stretches the already minimal light beyond what is even near enough to cover those plants.

If she must stick with that much light, get her a conversion bulb and teach her how to top to keep those bitches short. Otherwise this will keep happening ....

I would guess she is letting them get too big for her lighting setup. She would be much better off vegging till they are 8-12" tall and bushy and then flowering I think. That way they will stay under 3'. The better light penetration will give better quality harvests. Some buds just make less resin as well. Is her humidity high? This could stunt production as well as not enough light. Just ideas... Also.. what about convincing her to pick up a cheap 400w hps? In combo with the MH I bet the results would be quite good.

Tell her to pay us a visit, get registered and become more informed. This is a remarkable web site with knowledgeable people who are more than happy to throw some advice her way. I wish her luck. :peace:

Agreed. I have tried a few times now to get her to buy a modest 400 or 600w setup but she has been resistant. Normally her plants are about 3 ft. at harvest ( there is some stretch due to lighting ) and look pretty good actually. I will continue to try and get her to re-do her setup. This strain is Dutch Passion #1 feminized btw. She feels that part of the reason they are so big is because she mistakenly bought the outdoor version of #1 instead of the indoor

I have shared growing methods with her. She is an oldschool grower and VERY set in her ways :?. I asked her about moving the light with the plants. She swears she is...but I also talked about the proper distance from canopy to bulb based on wattage...I think we are making some progress .

Get her on here and show her what is possible. There is no reason not to do things the best you can with what you've got, except if you can't admit you're not god.

shame on you all... those plants are very very very impressive for the amount of light they are getting. and by the way, this strain does not produce a lot of resin, very very very little in fact. her unorthodox way is working beautifully, but its usually flowers more quickly. these plants usually never produce jack shit indoors, but the nice thing about them is that they dont smell at all. tell her she should be very proud, and then smoke her out and take her to have a picnic. tip: no bologna, and if you are going to do turkey or chicken, use fresh meats (not pre-sliced), and no mayonaise. She is truely an artist with what she worked with, my hats off...

I would try a different strain on the next go around to see if that's it---she's got the girls in an open room so high humidity is not the problem.
