I love to bowl (not great, but I enjoy the hell out of it) as well, brew beer, I used to do taxidermy and wet preserves, but dealing with people really burnt me out on that. I have low patience for bullshit, and when you only want to pay less than raw materials you can fuck right off. my wives friend wants to learn, so i might get back into it to teach her how. Plus i'd have to be contacting people all the time to try to source dead creatures, and i'd be driving all over all the time, only to find out that they didnt freeze it in time and i just got a bag of rotten goo.

but yeah, i like to brew beer, walk my dogs, bowl, ride my bicycle, grow and smoke! I also enjoy hosting dinner parties for a couple friends. We charbroiled a gang of oysters last time, damn was it good.

thats cool, open water is scary to me. I've done some snorkling in the keys and such, but thats about as brave as I get in the water.
Not wrong to think the open water is scary, get caught in the wrong rip current and its infinite lactic acid or death lol.

I try not to go alone, the underwater creatures are the least of my worries.

Diving/fishing or anything open water imo, feels primal, brings a sense of achievement just like growing food/herbs, island living is enjoyable to me.

Night diving, fabricating diy electronics, speakers from scratch & an audiophile.
Hi Guys,
SPL...your night diving comment reminded me of my last night dive off La Jolla canyon in San Diego. Went down off the dropoff and spent almost the whole dive with our lights off because of all the bio luminescence. It was spellbinding.

Hey @reallybigjesusfreak When you dove in the keys, did you see the hammerhead that hangs out near Molasses reef? My wife and I were on the bottom at 50 feet or so and we saw him swimming by overhead. Kinda scary looking up at that...

At age 70 now...growing is about all I can manage...though I do like to strum my guitar and sing songs from my youth. Bob Dylan, Cat Stephens, Leonard Cohen...
Cheers,
JD

You were probably at or near scripps park beach, I did some solo night diving there about a few months ago while visiting family, just wanted to check out the scenery & people thought i was nuts due to only having goggles and surf shorts haha.

it's loaded with coral reef & sea lions, it's a nice place & yeah it's a trip diving with no light but once its pitch black with no moon you are shit out of luck without light lol.

Ya that's where we were. I usually preferred the cove because of the variety. I ended up in San Diego after being mustered out of the Navy...and it was January...and I, with my lily white Minnesota skin went romping in the surf. San Diegans are use to such madness due ti all the sailors and tourists. lol

Disc golf
when i lived in Fargo, i'd play disc golf a couple of times a week, think the name of my favorite park was Oak Grove.
when i moved to Tn, i quit playing. not because i want to, but they just seem to be horrendously bad at planning courses here. there's one in Gatlinburg, but it's like two damn miles long, and you have to cross a busy road...it's built around a highschool football field and baseball diamond....

The coral growers are our brothers and sisters of indoor biological lights and lighting. Something surreal about the reefs they grow.

Hi Rog...glad you're back with renewed vim and vigor. I spent my formative years living across the Red river in Moorhead, MN. i Played Frisbee golf there myself.
Cheers...

i actually lived in Barnesville during school, when i moved to Fargo i lived above the Bismarck bar on Broadway for a couple of years, about 150 feet from the railroad tracks...not quite as bad as Elwood's apartment in Blues Brothers, but pretty interesting none the less
