if my kid told me he felt comfortable being responsible for himself and that he trusted himself to make proper decisions, i would probably let him do almost anything........
babs, we get it. you are wise much, much beyond the likes of us, and it is absolutely imperative that we understand never to let our children.... no wait, never to let our teenagers be curious about the world they live in. most people don't know "their place in life" by the time they reach adulthood (let's go with 21 Earth years). it takes MANY different experiences for people to find what they are truly comfortable with. for some, finding a new way to look at the world is an absolute imperative in their search for "their place." do you think people should wait until their 30's, 40's, 50's, even 60's before experimenting with drugs? that's how long it takes some people to finally feel comfortable in this world.
please do not be so close-minded. some people actually trust themselves, and those people have the right to do whatever it is they want with their bodies. i know i have made mistakes, but that's part of life, and those mistakes have helped mold me into the person i am. i would never go back to prevent something because i have always weighed my decisions at least enough so that i can learn from them if i wake up on the wrong side of the bed. if my kid told me he felt comfortable being responsible for himself and that he trusted himself to make proper decisions, i would probably let him do almost anything.
