The interwebs say that Rick's hand got cut fighting zombies in the episode that Glenn died in. The wife and I both though he was a ticking time bomb. Kinda bummed. I don't think I can deal with a two-handed Rick if Carl is still alive.
You can survive a bullet to the eye especially a downward angle from a low caliber handgun. An AK or larger round will go right through the back of the head and fuck up any tissue around so more than likely you'd die. But saving him would be really hard without a hospital but not impossible they had alcohol and antibiotics.

its actually what sets the tone for carl to grow the fuck up and act like an adult. he actually becomes pretty bad ass after he gets over his pity party for himself.
