Im not worried about a warranty I want the best tech under the hood. Best bulb ballast and reflector.
ok well it might be hard to find someone that has used those new lamps.but i love the gavita and they dont put off as much heat as alot of people say.the phillips bulb is much brighter than the ushios i just put in 2 of my fixtures based on meter readings.my 13 month old phillips bulbs are brighter than a brand new ushio by a little bit.i got a smokin deal on the ushios otherwise i would not of spent the money, good for backups i guess.oh and 600w ushios are complete crap imo.and i have ran alot of dif brands.that fixture and lamp setup looks crazy how close they have the lamp and ballast.i do like how short the total package is compared to gavita.if i had one complaint about gavita its how tall the setup is when hung from the ceiling, you lose a foot right out of the gate.i would not run them in a room thats less than 9 foot tall but thats just me,i know some guys do it

You pick at my grow personally, not at my lights.
Just read that again and see how ridiculous immature you are, rendering the rest of your comments so empty again. Pick at your "grow personally". Wtf does that even mean... I didn't pick, and it was about your lights and the results thereof, your grow... doh... Absurd, you are taking comments on your results personally and instead of knocking that off you convince yourself of the utter nonsense that it's possible to pick at someone's "grow personally"... Ffs.

Are you really going to continue to pretend I have not posted plenty of pics? And that a pic of a healthy crop with proper buds will change your attitude or the facts? We both know that's sily nonsense. Again, what is your motive besides trying to discredit someone who doesn't agree with you... I'm not going to dignify your request. Your invalid argument does not become mine. If you really think you are discussing grow light here you don't need to see my plants specifically, again.

Nothing but anecdotes from the peanut gallery.... as usual when asked to demonstrate you come up with another dodge.

Ive asked for papers, light recommendations, pics, documentation, every single time you dodge out and post 4 paragraphs of fluff. Or link a paper from ten years ago.
Troll on... Too over the top bullshit, as anyone can read in this thread. So desparate to discredit me while all you end up doing again is showing you have zero valid arguments and can only attack the person making opposing arguments. You liked one of the posts with multiple links and quotes so why even lie so shamelessly... Baffling...

Your so full of yourself its coming out your ears. Im not desperate to do anything, you do a fine job of discrediting yourself without my assistance.

I quoted that post as well. Asking for the other papers you referenced in that post. Again I got called retarded. Any time anyone asks for specifics you get defensive.

You claim the numbers are doctored, or outright false yet when asked to demonstrate how that is the case you dodge.

Ive asked you for luminarie recommendations so I can conduct head to head tests and you ignore the post.

Really im just trying to gain information about your stance on the topic and you call me the troll...

If you have, then why is it so hard to do it again, or show the post, or show where.
There's no "if", as you know. I said before in one of those threads it's like you guys don't realize those threads dont disappear. It's not hard, it's pointless. Some of the led folks failing to produce pics of proper led results, or grows, doesn't logically require me to post healthy hps crops and comply with your silly attemp to make this about gg vs sativied instead the real topic at hand. Based on the pics from you in this thread you'd be better off learning how to grow efficiently than how to save electricity.

As you know, I used to keep an extensive journal at riu, in which I can probably find a few likes from you too... till a mod decided it's ok for led fanboys to meltdown and troll grow journals after they just got hit with the realization the efficiency numbers of led don't necessarily translate 1-1 to reality and want butthurting memes and valid arguments removed... Nasty folks those led fans once to start hitting them with facts.

Ive asked you for luminarie recommendations so I can conduct head to head tests and you ignore the post.
In your pm last year where you asked me for advice...? It's very simple, if I ignore a post it's because it's too dumb, too transparent and you lost the privilege of me replying with your douchebaggery. Don't fool yourself you have a point if I don't reply.... And what on the planet you live on makes you think you can ask me for recommendations. You are not suitable for doing a side by side test, it requires intellectual honesty and knowledge of the plant, and more than half a brain... and an objective view of what makes a "wow" grow. What would you try to prove anyway with it... that led can result in a higher gpw if you throw enough money at a soft running setup. Thus, pointless and clueless.

I'm sure others can direct you to the papers you desire and spoonfeed you recommendations. It is odd you are participating in this discussion with such lack of basic knowledge. Apparently one can gain such insight only from having used it before so you are screwed.

So you still get wowed by a relatively low energy consumption because all you care about is

And you think you are in a position to judge whether others are stupid... As you shown throughout this thread that's really not the case... Don't be so delusional. Nothing in my post said anything like that, you're just, as usual, posting dumb ad hominems and straw man attacks.
I can't do this anymore, puffenuff's posts keep reminding me to stop...................I have enough problems to worry about, "debating" with a WALL on a public forum is not one of them.

I hope you upgrade from your 600w magnetic one day.

.
No. I have not seen YOURS. I've seen you post others and google search pics. But not yours.
So please...enlighten this thread. I'm not so sure what is hard about posting your pics. If they are yours...you can just walk out and take more.

So you have to try and attack me personally again. It's really funny that you have nothing to show and everything to meow at.

Coming from a guy who thinks a 150w hps pulls 400watts...

View attachment 3633569

Now let me ask you something, have you ever finished a decent grow?
i finish grows all the time and i dont hear any complaints on my end
ive also used a 150w light so i know how much it pulls and i posted reviews of it but i know your to busy to read anything thoroughly
bwt those plants look like shit not photosynthesizing correctly wheres the heater?
i dont know man looks like its a shit crop better scrap and start again

just so anybody was still curious COB will still grow more weed and a lower draw then any HPS when used properly
its been well documented as is @Sativied troll posts
so do you trust the people who are proud enough to share or do you trust the boob who only knows how to use a 600W?

@Greengenes707 you are right, my heatsink looks different than cooliance. Just like you said... the thermal resistance is about the same.
I have tried heatsinks with thinner and more number of pins, looks like thinner pins are more suited if pin height is less.
Also for DIY it seems thicker pins are better as they do not bend easily, which is a concern while shipping.

A lot of focus is given to the surface area and not so much with how the heatsinks pull air streams for convection cooling. Unlike Flat heatsinks, pin heatsinks pull air from 360 degrees and creates airstreams and thus offers much better cooling. I am sure you already know. This article explains a little better if anyone is interested.

Here is my private collection:weed:

The one in the center is the one i sell and its the best of the group. Anodized were better at cooling. Round pins better than line shaped pins. Base thickness is important. too many pins (square in photo) and very closely packed did not perform as good. top right is serrated pins, slightly better than flat but pin hs beats all.
Most of my data was measured with a 25 watt power resistor. Those large extruded profiles on top were reaching 50+ C and pins HS weight much less and were in mid 40's for small once and low 40's C for large once.
Tested some exotic copper and splayed pin designs but they are expensive, not easy to work with and ship. They do have slightly better performance but for same price I could get a bigger/better performance heatsink with regular aluminum pin style.

Do you know what kind of plug to the ballast a gavita uses? I have a hydrofarm ballast and another type adapter, forget it's name.
Most Gavita fixtures are one piece, so they don't have connectors. The rest have either of two standard connectors.

I had heard Gavita remote ballasts were pulled from the market because they don't comply with residential RF regulations but not sure how accurate that info is?
Wouldn't surprise me.

I recently heard that Horti Platinum ballasts had been discontinued. Then today I see an ad for Horti products, including the platinum unit? Anyone have insight into this situation?
