It's too late to run for cover once the sky is already falling. Therefore discussing the future direction of the economy is indeed a highly relevant topic of discussion.

I thought you were smarter than that. Am I incorrect?
economy yes, always a great topic. we were specifically talking about immigration and how i disagreed the ban would have any negative effect on the economy. so if policies changed, we'd see the effect soon if it was there, which is why i said its nonsense to talk about something that hasnt happened (both have been shut down by judges and IMO the ban will probably never go into effect because politics). the US economy is not affected by the addition or lack of citizens from the countries listed in temporary block/ban while DHS reviews procedures for folks from these areas to ensure US citizens are safe. not seeing the harm in that, but im just one guy. try going to canada with a DUI or any sort of recent conviction, a list of hoops must be jumped through that can take over a year, if you can go at all. did the trump administration completely bungle this? IMO, fuck yes they did. pelosi and crew also bungled when cramming ACA through ("we gotta pass it to see whats in it") and the left has been crucified for it since. although i think the right is quickly looking like idiots if they cant come up with a clear alternative or at least an answer as to what they are going to do, i do think its good they arent just all falling in line for the hell of it like what happened when the ACA passed. time is quickly running out though either way

as often as we seem to disagree, only you and @Fogdog am i interested in discussing things with. you guys have original thoughts and dont just copy and paste bs, so thanks. I do appreciate the back and forth.

"The Art of the Deal" is how not to only fail to convince your opponents but how to fail to convince your own team too.

Trump is the Coach whose football team just walked off the field and went to a bar before it started.

Typical rightie doesn't even know the conversation in which he posts..it had nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with subtle changes (micro, thank you @SneekyNinja) that are occurring, re-occurring and recognizing same.

This is a thinking persons thread.

agree on independence being important, but if you speak to anyone that works with elderly, getting food isnt what costs them independence. its their health. my ex gf ran a retired living, and my mom is a consultant for families needing long term care. ive never heard of a difficulty acquiring food as major hurdle an elderly person encounters. if they are experiencing that, which im sure someone is, its likely they are experiencing other deficiencies as well and need more help than a meals and wheel program can provide.
YOU never heard..have you ever SPOKE to any? I have, those old people stand there and count them because they are delivered once a week..you better not short them either.

#1 concern above medical is their independence. They are half dead and need to be in nursing care but want to be in the comfort of their own home hopefully to die in their own bed. They know what it means to 'go in'..my great grandma fought tooth and nail at 90-ish took her license away and she didn't go into assisted facility until she was 104 and passed at 105. As a little kid, I remember her telling me 'if I lose it, shoot me'..she didn't want people changing her diapers..it's called dignity.

But back to food..some that are still living, never worked and have no SS to draw from so that means two are living one persons benefits. There used to be a time when a married couples could raise a family on one persons income no one predicted that you would need two incomes in the future. There are many, many like this.

Incidentally, anyone who works a weed job is in this category unless they are paying taxes.

So I've seen first hand what impact meals on wheels has, and it's significant.

whats your point about food? some choices have bad endings? yep, and? your two examples describe someone who never worked and couldnt get ss (which describes an able body person that chose not to work, disabled would get benefits) and someone working in a weed store as a career im assuming. hardly your average american. what percentage of the population would fit these examples, in your opinion? to me, id guess less than 2%, and I'm supposed to feel sorry for them? please

people, don't ask a trump supporter to feel sorry for old people who are starving. that's too much.

hey joe, how is it you own your own business but buy health care insurance from your employer?

you've been running away from that lie for days now.

As usual, you beat me to the punch. @visajoe1 has outed himself as a selfish prick without a shred of empathy for those who aren't able bodied or have grown old, infirm and need the help- often, just the ATTENTION of others.

People like you, @visajoe1, you make me sick. You're a worthless and selfish piece of filth and I hope you find yourself helpless, forgotten and alone. Soon.

The rest of us are better than that and don't need to think twice about it.

I chose this country. You'd be nothing more than a worthless contaminant wherever you go.

If this is the best you can manage, the 'pathetic' label fits.

Loser.
