Typical pseudo scientist begins with a conclusion then looks for data to confirm it. Avoid data contrary to it.

WHY are these 'scientists' shooting their careers in the head in order to put out this claptrap that flies in the face of what is literally a universe of evidence to the contrary.

Dr Bill Gray, esteemed climate scientist from the Colorado State University Atmospheric Science Department, the man responsible for the famous yearly hurricane forecast, was an anthropomorphic climate change denier.

His hypothesis was based on long term solar output cycles. Even these have been ruled out after careful study. His explanation held more weight because to my knowledge he did NOT take any cash from anyone and because the rest of his body of work is solid climate science. It doesn't hurt that his office is in my hometown and I've been there, lol

Fuck- up until about a dozen years ago, I was a skeptic myself! I figured CO2 was an organic molecule, beneficial to plants, had been around for millions of years and as such was not going to be much of a factor. My epiphany came about due to an examination of the facts and an elimination of all other causes put forth for the measured rise in global temperatures. They weren't rising 'just because', there had to be a reason and the dramatic increase in atmospheric CO2 was and remains the only one that fit the facts. And, conveniently, the timing.

So motive. If not money, then what? Cognitive dissonance? Fear of causing a global climate panic?

Frankly, a little panic about how much and how rapidly our global climate is changing might be a GOOD thing!

People don't see it that way. It's a big upfront cost requiring specialists. And it is not pretty and you figure it requires maintenance. And you don't know what all it entails; will you have to adjust it, will it supply all your power or some or work at all.
Solar roofing just came out so i think we will see a slow change. There are also small wind mills that are efficient now ,,, 2 - 5 power a home. Solar is one solution. More good info and availability and less cost will bring solar up to being a top energy producer.

My dad wants to do the solar shingles on his but i told him it would cost that much and he said he spent 5k on the current asphalt roof.

Families move every five years on average. Payback needs to be around that number to make it feasible for larger market.

Question on the 12 year payback. Was that connected to the grid or off the grid? Also was that with a tax credit or not?

Grid tied, with tax break- but average electric cost is about 11¢/kWh. At that rate it takes a bit to recoup costs.

Also, can't run more than 125% of one's actual power usage in panels here, that's the local regs.

I see pics of those and they show the paneled roof next to a different structure with no panels and then don't caption the photos,, think you can tell one has solar panels and the other doesn't have any. I could be wrong but the new shingles are almost seemless but those old ones may be very flat though they still look like black squares on the roof. Not sure if i'm missing something, ..

I just want to point out that shark attacks and whale/dolphin beaching are increasing. I attribute this directly to Global Warming/Climate Change. I believe that a combination of gas exchange, potential pH and salt content fluctuation due to the polar ice caps melting, temperature, and other factors are either disturbing sharks' food source, and/or that it is disturbing all three animal species' ability to live and survive in the ocean in its current condition.

Just sourcing my information on the concept. Libertarians can be either right or left. I believe you're thinking of Tea Party Libertarians, but I might be mistaken.
