Since we have ALREADY been there...what are you going on about???? Seriously...you seem to think we haven't gone!!
eh? I never said anything about going anywhere.... your smoking that good again ck :p I said a little bit on the feasibility
of using h3 to sustain a fusion reaction.

now dont get me started on the feasibility of actually mining ore from the moon and bringing it back to earth in usuable condition...

Where the fuck do you get your information from? Helium3 only exists on the moon? You're either lazy or retarded.

Helium3 can be found in the crust, mantle and atmosphere of Earth as well as in some natural gas resources.

The rest of your post is partisan babble.

This is Helium-3 ISOTOPE. There is a difference. A BIG one. It does NOT exist on the Earth. So much for lazy or retarded....your turn.

The POLITICAL babble is what the issue is being affected by! Wake up.... who canceled the mission? Not the scientists that's for sure.... not the commercial venture consortium that was forming behind it, that's for sure.... starting to catch on?

The reason he killed it is not $$$... that is the SMOKE. Wake up!

The financial gains of this venture would have been astronomical in comparison with the cost.

In fact, this one issue could have put Obama on Mt. Rushmore if he had handled it in FAVOR of the nation, instead of AGAINST it.

But he is a puppet to the union and environmentalists ...who are the very definition of hypocrisy when it comes to this issue.

But they would lose their political grip on the nation....so better to keep the oil tankers floating...and leaking.

yeah, they wouldn't have anything to bitch about anymore... so it's pretty much out of the question:bigjoint:, they don't actually want to solve anything

It's about CONTROL. And this could have freed the WORLD!

I will give ground on it existing on earth.... but it is RARE and not feasible as a power source AT ALL....so the point is MOOT...

"Just 25 tonnes of helium, which can be transported on a space shuttle, is enough to provide electricity for the US for one full year," said Taylor, who is in the north Indian city of Udaipur for a global conference on moon exploration.

The shuttle is used as an example of cargo size..... it is not saying that the shuttle will be a participant in the program. to me, this was obvious when I read it, but some of you have me worried about things obvious, so i have explained it ahead of time.

Please link your source. Helium3 is an isotope of helium. Nothing more. Helium3 is the same everywhere...the moon, the earth, whatever. High School chemistry anyone?

As far as the political shat: Cost and NASA's ability to make opening a soda bottle a 3000 page manual is what cancelled the program.

OIL? You're right on that. The world's economy runs on oil and it goes way beyond fuel for our fancy SUVs. EVERYTHING is made with oil in one way or another. To think that only liberals are sucking the cock of ExxonMobile shows a blatant lack of awareness. Oil runs the show and every politician knows it.

Sorry, that does not fly..... the profit potential from harvesting the moon's 100 million tons would have been enormous.... astronomical.

Try and grasp what 400 years of pure clean energy for the entire planet would mean....take a minute...forget the POLITICS...and just think what that means. the changes for the planet and everyone in the third world...

I'm furious over this dropping of the ball.

Think the Chinese are going to quit? India? Do you?

And like I just admitted above, I do recognize that H3 is on the earth bt it is RARE. on the Moon we have all we need....PLENTY in ABUNDANCE.

Moot point there....

Think about what we have given up. thaink about hopw this was NOT mentioned AT ALL by Obama. Guess why not...

This was his real chance to go down as a great leader...of the world. He blew it...and for all of us as well.

maybe his failure can set the stage for real 'change'
if you look back at modern history most epic change is preceded by epic failure in government, the evidence goes as far back as written history, and is not in favor of governmental bodies.

Obama may have cancelled the constellation program, but NASA is far from sitting on it's duff. I work for a company that is building components for the A-3 test stand and some other things for the Stennis Space Center (can't say what, it's a little TMI for my paranoid self). They are gearing up for a plethora of new technologies and testing. Construction will not be complete for about another 2-3 years though, so sit tight and grab a snickers.:blsmoke:

So, the fireworks should be ready for Obamas inauguration ceremony?

They'll be ready (well, they SHOULD be, it's been a real pain in the ass) for an inagural ceremony.

Who's ceremony it'll be is far from decided. Still got a couple years to go.....

its not exploration its a simple task of mining a deposit of dust from the lunar surface and bringing it back to earth , it is said to be the greeniest form of energy ever known ,2,000lbs would power the us for a year
This is a joke, right? Lunar dust is a "miracle" energy source?:roll::roll:

When you are number one in the world in just about everything.... change means only ONE thing.

That's great to hear....but the budget is sliced and diced. No Shuttle... no Ares.... no program for space. What is it we have to now pay to the Russians to "hitchhike a ride? 60 million per person? It could be 20...I forget....but c'mon.

Personally I will miss watching the Shuttle take off and fly over my acreage on return. I'll miss the double sonic booms....

But the USA is missing everything.

WORLD energy.... CLEAN...for 400 years.

The Chinese are going.....think we can "hitch" a ride?

I checked into this and it turns out we have known about H3 for quite a few years now. (2003-2004)
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200411/s1252715.htm

Also, they mention that a specialized reactor to even be able to use this as fuel may not be possible for another 30 or so years?

The amount reported to power the US with electric power for ONE YEAR is estimated at 25 TONS... not 2000 lbs as one poster stated. Still, I would rather have the surface of the moon being mined or disrupted as there are no wildlife habitats to detstroy, no dangers to anyone here on the planet and best of all...I won't see any of it from MY house. :)

Yes...all true...but this Constellation Program was THE start to get it all going!! I never said it would be easy... but the POTENTIAL BENEFIT to the entire world would be the GREATEST achievement man has EVER done!! I cannot stress that enough. This isn't chump change...this is REAL CHANGE.

But Obama looks inward....and creates the welfare state instead.

This is, without a doubt, some of the most loony tune shit I have EVER heard.

You know, there is plenty of available space in mental institutions. Some delusional people deperately need therapy to control their false beliefs.

The Heritage Foundation? :dunce::dunce::dunce: As a reliable non-biased provider of information? :dunce::dunce::dunce: You might as well ask a fox what to do with the hen house.:evil::evil:
You just don't like what the reality of the costs are.

Anyone who is actually informed KNOWS that the White House and Congress have TOTALLY FUDGED the numbers. Like I said...if you tried those accounting tricks...you'd be in prison.

The fox is in the White House.

Ask yourself WHY we all have to pay for FOUR years before any benefits kick in.... Realizing that the numbers are based on 10 year projections (CBO's).

By the way, the CBO's numbers have to go by what Congress Gives them...garbage in...garbage out... the Heritage is a REAL accounting...and this is going to be bloodbath of debt and job losses.

AT&T has already announced this will cost them a BILLION dollars in the FIRST year.

Wake up....
