I've had the best success with these in smaller enclosed areas. Usually 18-36" from canopy depending on stage of growth. I usually yield 20-50 a light.

I've vegged with MH T5's HPS LED and Magnetic induction. The only lighting I have yet to use is LEP (shit is like 1000$ for a fixture that covers a 4x4). HPS was my least favorite, T5's didn't quite have the growth the other lighting did. The LEDs I used were crazy they were Diamond Series 300w...

How high is the ppm of the tap water? It could definitely contribute. Your plants are gonna need some nutrients. What kind of soil are you using and what nutrients? Looks like they are becoming deficient in a few areas. That's gonna be a bigger problem than the potential burn if its not taken...
