Bleach is less likely to burn your roots, and gets rid of baddies with way less ppm than h2o2. Also, they say h2o2 will burn your hands if you don't wear gloves when handeling. As far as being food safe, every time I poor a glass of water, I drink chlorine. Same with all the other city...

Just use the cheap laundry bleach that doesn't have scents and whatnot. While I don't know why having good smelling reservoir is a bad thing, people that have done more research on that sort of thing than I say so.

I was just reading a good thread about bleach. Apparently a lot of industrial growers use it. Do a search for "bleach hydro" up in the top right. Read it. Very informative.

As long as you don't plan on using chems, you could get away with recomposting your old soils and reusing. Just a thought
