new tent e.jpgnew tent b.jpgnew tent f.jpgnew tent h.jpgJust got the seeds going so not much to see just yet so will start with kit: soil grow, 2X600w (can flip up to 750w/1000w), 4" inline on a filter, 4" inline intake and A/C... all in a freshly built 8X4 space. Had as much fun building it as tending the garden... going scrog for the first time... hoping to get 3 girls out of the 9 beans I started. Anyway, some pics...

Thanks aknight... I have to say I'm pretty excited to get back at it after taking a couple months off. I'm a little nervous about the new set up, knowing that it could take a while to get it dialed in as nice as my last one. Anyway, all 9 seeds that I started have popped within 48 hours and are now in Rockwool cubes under a pair of small T5s. So it'll be a while still before pics.... Meanwhile, if anybody has experience with this strain I could use some tips. I hear it likes to stretch lots in flower...wondering how nute sensitive it might be and things like that...

Day 9 Veg 1.jpgStill not much to see, but after 9 days. they're off and running... Planted all 9 seedlings into 1 gallon pots today and put them under the 600w. I have it 25" above the seedlings and the temp at top of the pot height is about 78ish. Not bad, but maybe a bit too much yet for the lil uns. Got to figure that out... I've got a/c going and I'm getting different temps all over the tent. Need to circulate that air better and get it mixed somehow. Anyway, counting the days now until the lil uns start cranking out colossal buds :)

Day 15 Veg 6 group.jpgDay 15 Veg 6 profile.jpgSo the pics are from day 15 from when the seeds started germinating and 6 days since putting the cubes into the 1 gal pots. They seem a bit small and the growth has been slow. This happened in my previous grow of NL, but I'm not worried. They did great and I think these will too. I'd like to know what's going on there, but...as long as they produce I suppose it doesn't matter. I expect things should pick up after today as they got their first bit of food today (A&N Sensi Grow A and B at 20% strength, B52 at 50%, and VooDoo at 29%). Ya...things should start rolling now. :)

Day 22 Veg 13 group top.jpgWell things are moving now. The pic shows them at Day 22 from seed. They've really taken off now. I think I figured out the cause of my slow starts. I switched to using Rockwool cubes to bring the seedlings along after germination and I haven't been letting them grow enough roots before transplanting them into the peat. So when they get there they take a while to get the roots going before they start cranking out the leaves. Anyway, once they got going I hit them with A&N nutes mixed at 20% and they really took off. I will be topping them for the first time later today.

Day 27 Veg 18 FIM develop b.jpgDay 27 Veg 18 FIM development.jpgDay 27 Veg 18 group.jpgDay 27 Veg 18 topped develop.jpgDay 27 from starting seed germination. They were watered with A&N nutes (Sensi Grow A + B, B52, Voodoo) mixed at about 50% of recommended strength just after the pics were taken. A couple pics here to show FIMing and topping development after a four days or so.

GQ - you're running about 2 weeks ahead of me. I'm trying different strains, but it's still awesome to take a peek into my (hopefully) not too distant future. Sub'd up, can't wait to see what you nurture. Happy growing!

Found the first girl out of the eight!! Very happy about that. This is the earliest I've ever spotted one (31 days from cracking the bean). Must be doing something right... :P So for the third straight grow I've run into "canoe-ing," wrinkling and twisting leaves. Some say it's a sign of heat stress and I got that under control two grows ago. The last grow it happened again and I thought it was lack of humidity (or VPD - vapour pressure discrepancy) so I got that worked out. But still... the twisting, leaves... Could it all have been so simple as too much air movement right on the plants? I guess I'll soon find out.... Whatever the case, what's happening is that the plant is transpiring too fast. It's drinking like mad. This time I know I have the heat in check (never higher that 77, usually 75) and the humidity too (40-70% range from lights on to lights off). So it has too be the fans... Anyway, some pics to see what I mean...hopefully it helps others...wrinkling Day 31 Veg 23 fim progress 2.jpgDay 31 Veg 23 fim progress.jpgDay 31 Veg 23 group profile.jpgDay 31 Veg 23 group.jpgDay 31 Veg 23 wind stress cupping.jpgDay 31 Veg 23 wind stress twisting.jpg

My low temp at lights off has been around 68 degrees and my high at lights is usually 76, but has jumped to 78 on warm days. You've got a pretty large temp swing there, but it looks identical to plants that I had, which as I said were just transpiring too fast.

Day 39 (Veg 30). Looks like I have 3 girls for sure out of the 8 and maybe a possible 4th. She'll show better in a couple days. Hope I get that fourth so I can choose the best three to transplant, which will happen before the end of this week. Then I can set up my screen and change up my watering regimen to water-feed-feed-water (as opposed to (water-feed-water-feed) and get those girls growing. I can't wait to get going on the SCROG part. After checking out the other AK grows here (sorry forgot your names guys...lol) I wonder if I really have AK going here, as my plants have the fat indica leaves...not seeing much sativa at all in them...hmmmm....I dunno...Day 39 Veg 30 profile.jpgDay 39 Veg 30 top.jpgDay 39 Veg 30.jpg

Day 45 (Veg 36). So I ended up with 5 girls out of 8. I was tempted to keep them all, because I could hardly bring myself to chop down a girl, but the plan was always to SCROG 3. Choosing the best of those 5 was difficult...the subject of much debate with my GF. Anyway, got those 3 transplanted and into 7gal pots. I plan to veg another 3 weeks or so, or as long as it takes to fill 50/60% of the screen, as I hear that this AK47 stretches like fn crazy. screen up b.jpgscreen up c.jpgscreen up.jpg

if you got your seeds recently from HGS, you've done better than many
there had been some kind of meltdown with them for a while now, no one was getting their beans
be great if they've gotten it back together

Ya... it's sad what happened over at HGS. The guy has some great beans and a great web-site, but both went to hell after a family member of his died. It's really a shame. Anyway, I got my seeds just before last Christmas... right after he came back from a hiatus and just before he disappeared again. At that time there was a lot of complaints on his site from peeps who weren't getting their orders. I wonder if he's sorted shit out yet or not. To spend all that time/energy to build a great rep... and then to fuck it all up in a couple weeks...hard to ever come back from a meltdown like that. Just shake my head...
