No. I'm saying that plants can receive toxic levels of elements, regardless of salinity. And so did the Professor.

LOL... i have to hold this quote for future reference. regardless of salinity? minerals are salinity... are actual salts. we also cannot move from from minerals to elements... wtf?

what are the levels that these minerals become toxic?

for example... if i have a seedling that needs a mere 0.6EC in a 4" pot and I feed it 3.2EC would this be classed as a toxic amount of nutrients? we are obviously feeding far more than the plant needs or can take...

For the record, have been testing nutrient profiles for the past 2 years now. You can most definatly over feed your plants.....Ratios are EVERYTHING!!! If anything you want to forget PPM's and target a good ratio, your EC will fall into place. Once we stopped going by PPM's and started going by ratios and developing a nutrient profile, it was like magic how all the problems went away (including PH) and plants grew healthier and faster than ever before!!

Peace~!

forget PPM's... and this post was thanked?

wtf?

EC is everything.... too high EC will suck the water right out of a plant. so saying it doesn't matter is insane.

whereas I feed a seedling that needs 0.6EC a feed of 3.2EC and the seedling selects the nutrients it wants then this proves that ratios do not matter so long as enough nutrients are avaialble and the salinity is not enough to harm the plant.

still waiting on your nutrient profile.
