The last big-game animal I shot was a sow black bear in 1975 that had spent the summer eating out of my friend's apple orchard- the meat was a bit greasy but sweet and tasty

i had a chance years back to buy a 3 barrel shot gun...it was a crack with two 20 gauge barrels and a .357 barrel on top.
i dont remember the make and model right off hand but the reason i passed on it, it seemed really short

.the cat had cut the barrel him self and cut the butt stock down to a pistol grip. the whole thing to me looked like 10 years behind bars

My drilling is surprisingly light, it uses Krupp "fluss stahl" barrels (drawn fluid steel) and is a 16ga with a 9.3X72R rifle. It's what's called a "guild gun" and was made in Austria. A friend of my Grandpa's named Walt Sauer brought it back from Germany at the end of WWII. My Grandpa also had a "vierling", which is a 4-barrelled shotgun. I don't know what happened to it, but it was highly engraved and gorgeous.

I have a small collection of "pre-Garcia" (pre-1972) SAKO rifles in .222Rem, .243Win, 25-06Rem, 7mm mag, and .30-06 calibers. They're all tack-drivers, but my favorites are my .222 (which was made in 1951 and is the first year for the .222Rem. caliber) and my .25-06

I had a friend basically beg me to use his 25-06 years ago while deer hunting in WI. I was always a slug gun guy but he wanted me to be able to shoot 500 yards I guess? I looked at the cartridge and giggled! He assured me it was enough bang, and it was! I dropped a buck dead in his tracks!! A speedy cartridge that his hard.

No deer this year didn't help I only got out 4 times saw a doe but no permit. Moose next if I get drawn In the raffle. Then on to rabbits for the winter.

It's a fantastic cartridge. I load for 3400fps with a 100gn. bullet

My favorite rifle by far is my 1951 SAKO .222
It's so freakin sweet- it weighs like 5 1/2 pounds



This is 3 shots at 100 yards with an improvised rest, the second shot went through the first hole

I'll admit. If I could do it over, I'd spring for the extra .007 inch and get a 6.5mm/.264. Sectional density champ.

The .25 bore uses bullets sized .257. The 6.5 family's bullets are sized .264. Due to choices in rifling twist and bullet weight, the 6.5 family has outstanding sectional density and long-range ballistics. It is the smallest bullet size I'd use for a 1000-yard gun (they make some wonderful 150-grain VLD bullets for that bore) ... and the biggest I'd be willing to use against my not very strong shoulder.
