BuddySkunk's Very First Grow! (5 weeks into flowering w/ recap!)

Hello folks, I've had my plants in the dirt since April 17th 2012. I decided to grow my plants Organically rather than Hydroponically because it's my first try and Hydroponics would take a lot of exacting and I wasn't ready to let my first grow go down the drain. I researched of course, all about it and this is my baby girl from when she was just a little sweet-heart until present day where she is currently 5 weeks into her flowering stage. (5 weeks and 2 days technically)

Here's some information about my grow:
Lights for veg: Small 60w bulb that was enough to retain plant life.
Lights for flower: 400w MH Bulb w/ Reflector & Ballast
Strain: Bagseed baby, from a bag me and my partner had previously.
Temperatures: Range from 72 - 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
Humidity: Ranges from 45% - 65%

THE JOURNEY BEGINS:

On this day, a beautiful, giving, woman was born.

Not too far down the road, the 2nd set of leaves are growing proudly towards the light.
cannabis2012closeup.png

Then she just kept getting taller!
cannabis2012vegetative.jpg

She was finally 12" tall and ready to be staked, pruned, and flowered.

Here she is present day. Her sex is visible, maybe not in pictures due to poor phone camera quality, but she is a busty little bitch. ;-)

Standing proudly at 22" she has nearly doubled her size in 5 weeks.

I have a few questions for you experienced folk though, please and thank you.

• How much bud does a normal, non-polinated, 100% female marijuana plant produce at maturity with the height I've been given?
• How long does it normally take for there to be noticeable swell in the upper glands as for formation of "top colas?"
• When drying, how many days do YOU suggest I let it hang-dry?
• When curing, how long should I leave it in the jar & how often should I burp it?

Thank you, and enjoy future updates w/ more pictures and information about my pearl.

dry it until stem makes *crack* souns but doesnt broke. if it brokes you have dried too much and loose move wight by lower moisture in buds. curing is good from 3 weeks till very long. longer cure - smoother smoke. i dont have everything in my head, so you guys can complete what i said :D

I know I've heard many places not to let my bud dry until the stem "snaps."

heres a try,
Q1: Depends of strain/light/vegg time/soil ect. no real awnser. rough guess with good light and soil 1 oz + if grown right.
Q2:For me 2 to 3 weeks for good swell to start.
Q3:No real dry time, depends on how dense your buds are and how much water was still in plants when you harvested. Ull know when they are dry. if you jar too soon when you go to burp the jar, the next day after putting it in (burp being opening jar to let moister out for acouple hours) the buds will be moist again and you can just take out to let dry, if its to wet.
Q4: A good cure would be a month or over, burp every 12 hours for the first 2 days , then every 24 hours for the next couple days till you get the wetness you want then jar for the smell, taste.

also that last pic of your plant its still making the top leaves that start to turn into your sugar leaves, so after thos grow out you will notice the buds fattening around them

PICTURE UPDATE:
famplant5.5weeks.jpg

Ok so, my lady now has pistils protruding from every single internode. Thanks to DJAJ for helping me out!

Should have bud here soon, yield predictions still accepted. :)

Yield is a bastard to predict, so many variables affect it. Above all else, genetics. Even if you have everything perfect, if the genetics are poor then the yield will be poor, so its always worth getting good seeds.

Good way to judge your yield, is when you take your freshly harvested buds, the final dry weight will be 75% less. So if your fresh buds weigh 100g, your dry weight will be around 25g, give or take.

Also seed suppliers generally give a m/2 calculation, which is for SOG grows I presume. While many pack in heaps of plants in a m/2, in my mind a typical m/2 space would contain 9 plants. Thus to get an idea of individual plants, take that number and divide by 9. For example they say 400g, individual plants will be 1.5/1.6 ounce per plant, ideally.

I'm in a similar boat to you right now, heaps of pistils and expecting buds to pile up soon :)

Yeah about those seeds man, this is my first grow. And I'm hoping to have a 2nd grow right after this one! It all depends on my partner though. That picture is looking similar to my plant's progress. How far along are you?

Also, I don't know if anybody else feels the same way I do...

But the Bamboo Stakes holding my plant up are so sexy. Idk what it is about Marijuana and Bamboo, but I feel like my grow is more appealing to the eyes... Anyone?

haha cant really judge yield by thos pics, show a full pic of your whole plant. maybe with a soda can next to it showing size. and yah thos white hairs will start to build up and the cytz will start swelling up over the hairs and so on.

Hey man, it's going to get a lot bigger before she is finished. She is nice and healthy. Be sure and re pot it up to bigger sizes as she grows. The only thing with bagseed is that you don't know what it is. Not just the strain (usually) but if it is a hermaphrodite or was pollinated by a hermie. Usually bag seed turns out really nice since it is an F1 hybrid most of the time. So don't rush it, enjoy growing her until that day she rewards you with her sweet resins. Then take your time curing it. I like to use a dehumidifier set at 60% in my drying room. The slower it dries the tastier it will be. Then after you learn how get you some real genetics and see what you can really do. Good luck and don't rush things. It takes a lot of time.

That pic is 25 days into the flowering cycle, which I started after just 2 weeks of proper veg growth. Size does explode once the flowering starts to set in, I think it may seem longer when eagerly awaiting results and regularly checking etc. Its a tedious wait, lol

Thank you my brotha'. I'm planning on hang drying my harvest and curing in a jar for 3 days, burping it regularly. I honestly am more excited to see my little product of life grow it's buds. Going to be sooooooooooooo pretty.

Here's the middle. (notice the comb of pussies.)

I can't wait to see this baby swell up. Smoke me some sensimilla.

Question... why are you using a mh for flowering? your bud would be much more potent with a hps of the same wattage. I use a mh for the first week of my flowering stage just to help stop stretch then I throw in my hps. your 400w mh would rock your plants in veg instead of that cfl too. Just some thoughts on first glance, maybe some things to consider for you next grow. Stay up bongsmilie

Yeah man I had a HPS bulb I was gonna slap in that bad boy but the damn thing's burnt to fuck. But yeah I've used it throughout the entire grow. What lights produce more dense buds?
