What does what happened in 1996 have to do with Russians attacking our democracy by interfering in our elections in 2016? Are you saying that the US has no right to defend itself from this kind of attack because of what we did 20 years ago?
Seriously?

Your logic is we did it awhile ago- so it doesn't count?!

This is the kind of shit that makes it impossible to have a serious conversation with you.

Go vote for Clinton. Again. Fascist.

no one is threatening war and to call their actions "a few facebook posts" is beyond retarded

you just like the fact that they helped bernie out
You're the self appointed scare monger in Chief around here and you have precious little proof of any of it.

Nevermind the hypocrisy of saying it's fine if we do it.

you would be crying if the russians stole bernie's emails and disseminated them in a strategic way to do the most harm possible

I'm a histrionic idiot and can't restrain myself from childish name calling.
Of course it "counts" but for what? What the US did in 1996 was bad. What Russia did in 2016 was bad. There is no justification in this, they just are bad. Morality aside, what is a reasonable response by the US to ongoing attempts by Russia to delegitimize or control our elections?

What bearing does what we did in 1996 have to do with the US defending itself later on?

By your reasoning, because of Vietnam, we have to dismantle our military and not lift a finger when people invade us? Or, since Russia arbitrarily annexed Crimea then the US can arbitrarily annex the Pacific coastline of Russia?

My point being that the first doesn't provide a reason for not defending ones self. What I read in your argument is because the US interfered with Russian democracy in 1996, then the US must simply let Russia have its way in ours. That's not going to happen.

You didn't appear to know that the bill of rights is a separate document, or for that matter that the job of the courts is the interpretation of the constitution. Laws are only "legal" if they are in concordance with the constitution and the courts determine that, among other things.

Fuck, I'm a Canadian and I know this shit, yer sure some American. Can you name the capital city of your country? (With out looking it up!):p:lol:

https://billofrightsinstitute.org/founding-documents/bill-of-rights/
"The first 10 amendments to the Constitution make up the Bill of Rights. James Madison wrote the amendments, which list specific prohibitions on governmental power, in response to calls from several states for greater constitutional protection for individual liberties."

and
"Madison, then a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, altered the Constitution’s text where he thought appropriate. However, several representatives, led by Roger Sherman, objected, saying that Congress had no authority to change the wording of the Constitution. Therefore, Madison’s changes were presented as a list of amendments that would follow Article VII."

Ah, the self justification of empire.

Your argument is based upon morality. As in "the US did bad" as if that is some reason for what? Simply sit back and let Russia attack us? Try a reason based argument to explain why we should just roll over to Russia. I'm listening.

I'm not suggesting any such 'roll over'. You've been jamming that assumption down my throat this whole time, because you have to make a bogeyman.

If you were really interested in making sure foreign nations don't influence American politics, you'd be starting with Israel.

Instead, you scream about whatever the television tells you to and clearly have no ability to think for yourself.

Well then, what are you suggesting? All you've done is say US did wrong 20 years ago as if that makes what Russia did two years ago OK. You've never said anything about what the US should do, you just said how bad we were 20 years ago. I think the US should defend itself from Russian interference in our elections and meanwhile we should stop meddling in others.

Can we stay on the topic of Russia before moving on to Israel? What should the US do about Russia's ongoing attack on our elections process?

I think a rational approach might be to stop the constant warmongering and manufacturing of consent for hot or cold war for the enrichment of military contractors and start engaging them in honest and mutually respectful diplomacy.

Sadly, this is an approach we don't have much experience with, mostly for a lack of trying.

You talking about anything "respectful" is hilarious. The first moment you did not get 100% of what you want you would cry "shill!" or "rigged!". You are such a hypocrite. I have found that this comes naturally with narcissists such as yourself. Also, how is Schuylaar? She should be home by now.

Then I hope you are disappointed that Bernie supported "F-35 jobs" and voted to fully fund the pentagon ?

I understand that respect is a foreign concept for you. This post is proof enough of that!

Um, The question was "What should the US do about Russia's ongoing attack on our elections process?"

Russia is interfering in our elections and your answer is peace, love, dope and no bra? Putin is engaging in aggressive acts against democracies the world over. Your answer is the US should stop warmongering. Not that I'm against this, I simply don't see what that would do to prevent Putin from continuing his campaign against the US and other countries elections systems.

The US can do much to make the Russian attacks on our democracy too expensive for them to continue. There are plenty of things the US can do to protect itself too. From what you just said, it seems you are falling back to moralizing and just rolling over and letting Russia do whatever it wants. Meanwhile, Trump blocks the few actions Congress has authorized.
