Commercial COB lamp, Optic - Vero 29

Wondering if this is legit in any way. It is on Amazon, eBay and has its own website.

Looking at the smallest model for starters, allegedly 120W with a pair of Vero29s, a pair of Meanwell drivers and a pair of 40mm fans. Dissipation should be about 105W, so 58W for each Vero. That would put it at about 1.65A and about 40% efficient (typical). Selling for $330, so that is $3.15/dissipation W.

If all that is true, it could be the king of commercial lamps so far, but you know when something seems to good to be true in the LED world.... Maybe we pop this thing open and there are generic COBs in there! But it claims to use Vero 29 with selectable color temp. It also claims 93% efficient Mean Well drivers. Maybe they would be willing to me a sample, will call tomorrow.

I always snicker a bit because of my electrical box.....



but hey if it works it works. How the hell do they fit any kind of decent cooling into it though? It is only about 40mm thick and I doubt they are over 60mm tops...

The price tag makes me want to do a DIY that much more. Yowza!

^ best electrical box I ever had though, inherited it from my pops RIP. Probably around 15+ years old too, lol, left that part out, still making them I guess....

I've seen these. I was wondering how effective they would be, especially with the lens. They look similar to the ones fasttech sells.

With a high tech enclosure like that who could resist. Well I cant blame a guy for trying to make some dough but if your going to go commercial I think a better case might help sales. Maybe the next revision will have a nice case. I sure wouldn't buy one looking like that and don't think a lot of people will. Not that the case would effect performance it just seems Ghetto for a commercial grow light.

I wonder how many of these new LED grow light companies have passed through the knowledgeable halls of the RIU LED community....?

First off, I would like to pay my respect to everything you guys are doing in the field of LED. It's a great help for those who are new.

Now, what makes the Vero 29 superior to other 3w or 5w Led's?

What makes this LED superior to say the RW-150, or this seemingly well-made led found on a congruent website where the Vero 29 was sold?

Why would a man who has seemingly spent thousands of hours in research and development building custom LED's state that he would go out of his way to spend money on this retrofit ammo box with some bolt on equipment and simple wiring that most likely he could build himself?

Simple. Its efficiency. Not many other LEDs can convert electrical energy into photons so well (for an affordable price).

I like the idea of having a case DESIGNED to be opened.... seems like you could buy a higher/lower driven model and replace drivers/ install more drivers and switches for drivers to increase or decrease power..... I personally like the idea of hinges and a clasp, and wouldn't mind seeing one in person before I say it's "ghetto"

As a Mechanical Engineer and a businessman, I can respect the finer things like increasing efficiency and saving money. However, here on rollitup.org, I am after Superior cannabis.

If this means burning whale fat to achieve a superior light source, then i'm for it. If this means putting a wind farm in my backyard to power some state of the art LED and simultaneously the neighborhoods power bill, ill do it.

What can this specific LED offer to the plants that is not offered in other 5W LED's, perhaps in terms of Photosynthetically Active Radiation, specific wavelength, and so forth?

This specific LED cannot offer nothing more than a great efficiency for a fair price (Comparing Vero29 - not the whole light - against any other LED). So when there are two comparable options, are you gonna go for the cheaper one?
